Rich, I too am having the same problem and also find site confusing to use. I feel the software can do most anything but finding out how is the 64 dollar question. Moneydance does itself a great injustice by not having a more complete users manual and a better Q & A forum.

I had the same guestion and found that you can select all the transactions in your old liability account by doing a "ctrl A" , then right click any place in the selected area to bring up a menu and then do batch change to the new account you set up beforehand. When creating the loan account leave the balance o.o and it will pick up that amount after you complete the move.

I found I can create a new account of the type I want and then select all the data in the old account, right click in the selected data field and select a batch move to the new account it works great with no hangups

Basically I found the qif transfer from quicken OK. Now that I am setting thins up I would like to be able to change the account type in several places. Is there a way to do this?

I also need to change my liability account to a loan account, help needed. I tried creating a QIF of just the loan account and then importing to a new loan account but it screwed up other accounts involved in the split transactions.
