I have performance problems on W2K too. I also feel there are locks on all active windows and activities that are not released until there is an interupt by starting task manager or calculator or similar new activity. I suspect the problem is also related to use of Outlook on the same system. When Vipre is totally uninstalled with clean program, there are no problems. This is latest maintenance for W2K. Many versions of McAfee were used previously and were removed. Also Sunbely firewall is replacing McAfee firewall. All I have is a performance nightmare now - system is basically not usable. Makes me wonder if W2K is fully tested and supported. I do have rootkit active protenction on - I will turn that off as another test.
