Remove menu bar border?

Is it possible to have the border on the menu bar component made optional? I am using it to show a second level of navigation under a tab bar and I find the border makes it hard to show this. I could do this with just a row of text, but then I lose the spacing and current selection that the menu bar provides.

Now that the colour has been removed from the tabs, I find it really hard to tell which tab is selected (even with the most recent improvements). Any chance that you can put colour back for the tabs, but make it a user selected option?

I am still seeing this in version 1.6.27. At first it was happening with a link inside a set of grouped components and it went away when I ungrouped. But now it is happening whether grouped or not. Not all of my links are showing up in the .png - just one (but the same one).
