A comment on the idea "Better Spaces support in Check Off" in Second Gear:
The way Check Off's window is designed kind of prevents it from behaving like a standard app window. It's actually a sheet that is dropping from an invisible/ghost window. I may change it in the future to be more Spaces friendly, but it didn't make it into 4.0. – Justin Williams, on September 17, 2009 03:47

Check Off 4.0.2 Beta 2Hi,
I believe I have what can be considered a release candidate for Check Off 4.0.2. Please give it a whirl and let me know if you run into any issues.
Please DO NOT submit this build to MacUpdate, VersionTracker or any other software update service. This is a beta quality build that is not intended for general use. Please only download this build if you are comfortable using beta quality software that has bugs and may do shameful things to your Mac.
What's Changed Since Beta 1
- Rewrote portion of data exporter so that it doesn't lock up for users with larger data lists.
- Fixed an errant PPC crasher
What's Changed Since 4.0.1
- Updated crash reporter to handle 10.6 better. Please send crash reports if you generate them.
- Resolved a few garbage collector related crashers
- Resolved a few issues in the 4.0 data migration script.
- Addedgradient behind toolbar items to give them a bit more pop.
- Resolved issue where creating a new task or folder while editing an existing one would not retain the edited values
- Updated Check Off's outline view to no longer toss warnings about reloading data while editing an existing item
Known Issues
- None
There is no Sparkle updating for the build as it is a beta. You can download it from:

Check Off 4.0.2 Beta 1Hi,
I'm working on a larger scale change for the next Check Off release, but I thought I'd go ahead and get out the existing changeset for the next release as a beta so users can test it and send in any issues they have with it.

Known Issues
- Exporting will lock up if you have a giant list.
- There may still be some PPC-related crashers. I can't reproduce locally, but if you can, please send in the crash reports.

A comment on the discussion "Check Off 4.0: What Do You Want?" in Second Gear:
Syncing Mac to Mac interests me and is something I am planning to investigate.
Syncing to the iPhone is not currently on my radar for technical reasons as well as political reasons dealing with the AppStore. Not to mention that it is a completely separate product that takes time and resources to build.
That opinion may change in the future, but if you're waiting to pull the trigger on whether to buy the app or not based on a companion iPhone app, I'd tell you to look elsewhere at this time. – Justin Williams, on August 25, 2009 17:25

A comment on the idea "How attached are you to the menu-bar attachment?" in Second Gear:
Not ready to commit to what's going to be in 4.0 yet. I scrapped the old codebase and started from scratch rewriting everything using Mac OS X Leopard. I'm just now getting it back to where 3.8 was in terms of functionality and am modernizing the UI. Feedback on how the window attaches is part of that. – Justin Williams, on June 28, 2009 12:58
A comment on the idea "How attached are you to the menu-bar attachment?" in Second Gear:
My dislike of preferences has to do with me not wanting to maintain multiple window styles just to please everyone. I'd rather please myself and a majority with a default window style and be done with it. Less code to maintain.
I'm still not sold on doing the free-floating window, but I'm also not a fan of how I have it attached to the window right now either. – Justin Williams, on June 28, 2009 12:57

The sheet animation from 3.0 is gone. I'm just toying with what to replace it with. I am not a fan of preferences, so I'm opening up what to do as the replacement for feedback. – Justin Williams, on June 27, 2009 18:54

I'd love to get everyone's feedback on something I'm considering for Check Off 4: ditching the menu-bar attachment. Please comment over on this thread with your thoughts:
