Our new tools provide some this control to company moderators. We don't have this feature connected to an "inappropriate flag" quarantine, but we agree that company moderators are in a unique position to determine what makes sense.
If you're interested in getting your hands on the new tools before we formally release them please email amy at getsatisfaction.-

Casey shared an idea in Get Satisfaction on September 29, 2008 17:33:
Quarantine Gizmo? What if the window that pops up when you flag "inappropriate" included
- a "Request Immediate Quarantine" check box
so that content that the company believes is clearly out of bounds - either recklessly false (e.g. proven incorrect by the log itself, etc) assertions and/or with inappropriate content - can be removed before it does any damage.
If the moderator is able to resolve the issue to the satisfaction of both, the eventual result - minus the original post - can be posted as an example of how things can be worked out.
While I admire the general priniciples getSatisfaction is following, I believe that the author, the company and the moderators are probably the only ones that will read through and see the eventual solution. Everyone else will speed read and leave with an unjustly negative impression that can lead to real financial damages.
In short, without a quarantine gizmo (or something similar), a relatively small benefit (modelling resolution of even extreme cases for a small audience) is outweighing a much larger risk - real financial damage to company.
Ted Grubb replied on September 29, 2008 16:57 to the question "Why is an inappropriate comment no longer "under review"?" in Get Satisfaction:
That's correct Amy. That is a temporary visual state change only for the person who flagged the content. No one else sees that it's under review.
I realize this can be confusing process, but it's currently the only one we've got.
We'd love it if you could share a new idea on how we can make this feature better for everyone.
Thanks!

I haven't heard from other folks at Get Satisfaction, but I think that mdy is right: I don't think it "remembers" your flag when you refresh.
Also, feel free to flag multiple times. I do get notified again, which is fine with me. Sometimes, I'll get 10 notifications from 10 different people, or I'll get 4 dupe flags from the same person. I don't mind the dupes. In some sense, it helps show the urgency (or at least the urgency of feeling) of a flagged topic. When in doubt, feel free to flag.
We need to build out notifications a bit more with flags, and I hope that will come sooner rather than later. As you would probably agree, more information would be better, so the process appears more transparent and makes sense to everyone.
mdy replied on September 28, 2008 14:13 to the question "Why is an inappropriate comment no longer "under review"?" in Get Satisfaction:
I know from personal experience that the GSFN topic pages currently do not 'remember' that I've flagged something as inappropriate because it doesn't say "under review" when I refresh the page.
However, I *do* know that Eric comes in and moves off topic threads after a few hours so the flagging mechanism works.
There are times when I forget if I've already flagged something, though, so to be on the safe side, I flag it again (which I hope doesn't mean Eric gets two notices).

The reply you flagged is still "under review." I see it in my records, although I haven't responded to it or researched it yet.
Perhaps it shows as inappropriate when you refresh the page or come back. I will have to check with our developers and see if the flagged comment will show as "under review" when you come back to the page later. I'll get back to you as soon as I get an answer.

Casey asked a question in Get Satisfaction on September 27, 2008 23:43:
Why is an inappropriate comment no longer "under review"?How does the flagging work. A demo user flamed me for not responding when the getSatisaction log shows that I responded "great idea" within 2 hours - but it happened four months (she mentions she had forgotten all about it in her post). Her comment is also loaded with lots of religious and personal stuff that is way off topic. I flagged her comment as inappropriate. It used to say "under review". Now it's back to "inappropriate." What's happening?
