I uploaded a document from Word, a .doc document. Bookriff thinks it's a pdf and won't let me edit it. Can I do this differently somehow?

I'm a writer living in Vancouver and heard Michael Turner talking about Bookriff a few days ago, sounds exciting, looks good! I've registered to get a Beta code, how long does it usually take for a response? Thanks, Cate
