Check out your revamped Disqus profile. They make getting a Facebook API key really easy now ... you don't even have to go to Facebook. – catgofire, on September 08, 2009 22:25

Facebook has an amazing support team ... they don't really have a need to be on getsatisfaction. But I don't think you should bug them about this issue. It's not that hard to create an application and leave it in sandbox mode. We should just be thankful that DISQUS and Facebook have together allowed us so much functionality and integration for free on the Internet. – catgofire, on August 18, 2009 22:40

My guess is that Facebook disables that API key if you delete the application. Why not just leave the application in sandbox mode? Then no one else can see it, but you can still use the API key. FB Connect requires a separate API key for each domain, anyway. In fact, the first step to setting up FB Connect is creating an application to get an API key :) There really is no way for DISQUS to make the Facebook process easier ... it's all under Facebook's control. – catgofire, on August 18, 2009 21:56

That's Facebook's deal not DISQUS's. – catgofire, on August 17, 2009 05:27
catgofire replied on July 24, 2009 22:54 to the problem "[OS X] ctrl-space opens right-click menu in firefox" in Mozilla:
Yeah the problem is with Firefox itself, not the OS preferences. I still haven't found a way to disable the default control-space behavior, but I do have a workaround for my particular situation:
I use alt-space for Quicksilver because I use control-space for some shortcuts in TextMate, so I can't use the default alt-space for Ubiquity. I'm now using control-alt-space to invoke Ubiquity. By default Ubiquity doesn't allow you to do this (use more than one modifier key), but if you use the keyconfig add-on you can set pretty much any key combo you want (except control-space >:( ) to invoke it using the code
gUbiquity.toggleWindow()
(if you try to set control-space as the command's key in keyconfig, it brings up the right click menu ... in the key entry box. Haha. Grr.)

Hmm very strange. Are you sure you added your site correctly? You can add it here: http://disqus.com/add/. Once you have successfully added your site, click the Admin tab at the top of the page, and if the dropdown box says All Websites change that to your Tumblr site.

Once your site is selected (in the example it is Circumlo.cutio.us), click the Tools tab, change Generic code to Tumblr, and click Reinstall.

You should now be at a page that looks like this... follow the instructions:

Hope that helps ... if you are unable to add your site (the first step), you should email help@disqus.com, because they don't seem to check here that often.
catgofire replied on July 22, 2009 00:36 to the question "How do I add a Trackback URL to my post?" in Disqus:
Go to http://disqus.com/admin/settings/, under Options, enable Trackbacks and click Save. The Trackback URL should appear below the Add Comment box on each post's page.

The info at http://wiki.disqus.net/TumblrHelp under "Tumblr Integration" is up to date and works. Go to http://disqus.com/admin/tools/ , select "Tumblr" where it says "Generic code", click the "Reinstall" button, and follow the directions.-

A comment on the problem "I don't know how you got informations from facebook but my name and pictures are for facebook use only, I don't want them to be seen by everybody on the web, it's private. Please remove me from spoke as soon as possible. Thank you." in Spock:
LetsSueSpock: What I'm asking is, how would Spock take information from private sites? They're private -- it's not like Spock has an all-access pass to the Internet. When it crawls the Internet, it's just like you surfing it, but faster. One scenario that could reflect what you're talking about is if a public profile has been recently privatized. Say I had a MySpace profile that was public, and now I make that page private. Spock will have it there until it crawls MySpace again and sees that the profile has become private. There are two actions I can take at this point: if the profile is mine, I can request that it be taken down. If not, I can rest assured that Spock is working hard to refresh its index and take care of the problem. If you have an actual example of what you mentioned that you don't think falls into this scenario, I'd be interested to see it. – catgofire, on August 04, 2008 19:18

Again- if it's not public, how did Spock get it? If you go to your page and click on the blue triangle next to your name, a little "vote" window will pop up. If you click on the "who voted" link in that box, it will tell you who added your name. If the only name there is "spock robot" or something similar, your full name was somewhere on the Internet and it was added automatically (no human interaction). If there's a name there, then that person is who added your name, not Spock. Seriously... Spock cannot acquire private information on its own... it's impossible. Think about it. – catgofire, on April 17, 2008 20:07

Haha... I was waiting for you to bring that up.
I am in no way an Official Representative. I don't work for Spock. I'm a college student -- I am planning to work there this summer as an intern. I have never talked to anyone from Spock about this website, or this issue in general. I also have nothing to gain from posting my opinion here, and nothing to lose from not posting it. The views I express in no way represent Spock or its employees.
If you look on my page, you'll see that this is the only topic on GetSatisfaction that I've ever contributed to. It's something that I think a lot of people misunderstand, and something that this thread has caused me to think deeply about. I am choosing to work for Spock in the future because I hold these views, and not the other way around.
If you want to use the fact that I am going to intern for Spock this summer to discredit what I've said above, you're free to do that. But you should know: it doesn't. You said it yourself in your last reply. It's all public.
There's a comment on my blog that I think you'd like (it agrees with you). It raises some interesting points:

I can't believe you linked to my Spock profile. That's private. ;)
