A comment on the idea "Allowing synconization with folders outside wuala" in Wuala:

Oh I forgot, my upload speed is max. 50 KB/s and in Wuala it's alternating between 23 and 50 KB/s

ATM it seems as if Wuala somehow stored the files in my %temp% folder somewhere and C: runs out of space... I'll check if it fixes itself overnight (e.g. Wuala processes a few thousand files and deletes them and robocopy can get back to business) or if I have to intervene tomorrow manually - stay tuned! :D – Bugreport, on October 09, 2008 21:52

Only /mir and /b so nothing fancy...

Some tool that limits how many files get inserted per second however would be nice! IF Wuala crashes, it doesn't really like ~5000 pending transactions left!

I'm currently syncing ~14500 files via robocopy with only a few errors that trigger timeouts, but nothing major and atm everything seems to work nicely.

Most of the programs work with wuala unless you back up a lot of files (100.000 for example) This doesn't work because FSI in wuala still has problems.

If you want a way to backup/syncronize bookmarks in Firefox, check out the "foxmarks" addon. It will sync, between PC's and keeps a backup online, that you can access from any PC, just by logging into the site.

Im with shanepardue here. Exactly what incremental backup or sync, program have you gotten to run with any substantial amount of data, with the mapped wuala drive?

If you just want to run a full backup to wuala, I could see that working OK -- but with a program trying to sync or do incremental backups, it get's all choked up waiting on wuala.

If wuala built this feature in -- that problem would not be such a problem, as wuala, would only be waiting on itself, and it would know what all is actually going on, that any other backup app it blind to, with the mapped drive.

What backup programs can sync with Wuala? Every one I've tried chokes up..At least with the larger transfers I'm needing (40gb)

This already works since write access is possible with the filesystem-integration!

Nearly every backup program can use Wuala als storage...

you can try switching off sharing, logging out/exiting, then restart wuala (or relogin) and enable sharing again. You may have to repeat this 2 times.

Wuala shows 2.7 GB - on HDD the folder Fragments2 uses 11 GB!
Is there a command to order Wuala to scan this folder again or if this isn't possible, to remove the 'waste'-data?

If it is a single flie it will fail. I supposed he meant multiple files.. The problem with bigger files was reported here: http://wua.la/Wuala+Community/Bugs/On...
and it's already on the todo list

If it's a 40GB single file, it likely will fail, 40 GB of individual smaller files however shouldn't be very problematic, but I'd recommend not syncing _all_ of them at once, maybe in ~5 or 10 GB chunks...

I'll keep attempting workarounds. Thanks for the heads up and hopefully I can get Wuala to sync somehow.

Last test: 10.02GB (12880 files) and it worked.
I'm actually impressed with this. Last time I tried to use one of these backup programs I couldn't upload anything. I guess that wuala's system integration has become better.

Regarding your problem, try to separate the job into different tasks maybe? 10GB each, 4 tasks for example. I don't know what kind of files are you trying to backup so I don't know if it is possible....

40GB? :o That's a lot... I never tried to upload that much data at once.

The maximum size I synched was about 7.5GB. 40GB is nearly all the space I have in wuala.
