A number of people have reported the same problem, but with their Favorites pages, i.e. the "Next" button has disappeared from the bottom of the page so there's no way to see their favorites past the first 20. Are these two problems related (i.e. no next updates and no next favorites)? The Favorites problem has been reported here by numerous people under different topic headings (search for missing favorites), but no one has received any reply or fix. Thanks.

I think you're right in some respects - because it isn't a system-wide issue, there really isn't the same urgency to address it either here or on the blog. But I've had good experiences with Twitter so far, in that they seem responsive to problems even if they take awhile to solve them... Whether we're paying or not! :) So, I'm just surprised now to see it go on so long without any acknowledgment, even, that there's an issue.

I think they're fully aware of the problem, but they don't really care because a] it only affects a small percentage of Tweeters and b] it's a free service, so there's no obligation to fix it because they don't owe us anything.
That's just how I see it. I could be judging overly Twitter harshly. But it does seem to have been going on a long, long time without any visible attempt to rectify the problem or any word about progress on fixing it, if indeed they *are* trying fix it.

This is really frustrating... I *still* don't have an older button, and I *still* can't get to older pages by manually changing the URL. And doing a SHIFT-F5 while I refresh doesn't change anything. I agree with PortiaDaCosta, that this isn't even being mentioned (let alone addressed) because it's not a system-wide problem.
And by "hacking the URL," I mean that at earlier times when the older button was MIA, you could change the normal home page URL from this:
http://twitter.com/home
to this:
http://twitter.com/home?page=2
And then change the 2 to a 3, and then a 4, etc., to get to older pages manually. But now, even that doesn't work.
I know Twitter is a free service, and it does annoy me when people come down so hard on you guys for something they're getting without paying a red cent... So I'm trying to be patient. It's just frustrating when this is clearly still an issue, and it's not even being mentioned on the blog or anything...

Hi Amy. Fred Wilson has a recent blogpost where he talks about Twitter using the services of a firm called ReturnPath to improve their email deliverability.
Apparently as recently as three months ago, a lot of the emails sent out by Twitter were getting caught by spam filters. This might explain why you're now getting follower request emails...?
Amy Muller replied on July 31, 2008 00:01 to the question "Email Notifications for New Followers & DMs not being Sent." in Twitter:
I haven't received Friend Request email notifications in MONTHS. (DM emails have been spotty but mostly reliable). I just figured I had inadvertently turned off the notification setting for friend requests and I hadn't bothered to look into it because frankly, I don't really care that much. However, just this week I started receiving them again so perhaps it is fixed now?
