I'd rather not try now, since I don't need to, just in case it doesn't work again and I lose all my songs again :-| – Ceegers, on December 20, 2009 04:53

Well I don't imagine many people have had to restore their TTR3, since it hasn't been out that long... are you saying you had nothing in TTR3, then restored your ipod and it worked? – Ceegers, on December 20, 2009 02:28

Ceegers reported a problem in Tapulous on December 07, 2009 21:53:
Free Track issues- The batch downloads don't actually download everything in that difficulty
- The list of free tracks only goes down to Plain Jane Automobile songs... nothing shows up with a later artist name.
- Free tracks I have already downloaded are no longer available. This would typically not be a problem, but as I mentioned in another thread (which everybody is ignoring :( ), I got a replacement ipod, and TTR3 is not backing up songs, so I had to delete everything and redownload.
- Tracks I downloaded for free are still there, but no longer free, meaning I can no longer get them. (Monkey Wrench for example... which I might note is still in the Top 10 FREE!!! category) (And Sugar We're Going Down)
I feel like both of these last two issues call for some way for Tapulous to determine what tracks we have already downloaded, and just let us redownload everything again.
- OH, and so I've been trying to get the Morgan Page two-pack that you can download for 1000 coins. I had already used 1000 coins a while ago to get it, so I was attempting to just get it again. Well after many attempts, it has not downloaded, AND it's charged me 2000 coins, even though I already used 1000 coins a while ago!
I can probably get the free tracks that are no longer there through challenges (who wants to help?), but I'm kinda pissed about Monkey Wrench and Sugar We're Going Down...

I understand your point, and essentially agree, but I like working towards an entirely bug-free game, rather than just bug-free for what 95% of the people will play ;)
Me, I just play everything (well, with the release of TTR3 I have to say everything "free") on every difficulty at least once (eventually).
Ceegers asked a question in Tapulous on December 05, 2009 22:01:
Foo Fighters song in TTR2 on Easy messed up.So in playing Monkey Wrench on Easy in TTR2... there's a part where taps are uncharacteristically close together for an easy song. The next many taps are way earlier than they belong, giving a very out-of-sync feeling. There is then a big pause, after which the taps are back to normal. And then, again, taps come that are really close together, this time creating at least two almost-double taps (around a 283 streak, right after a hold). Then, again, the following taps are coming quite before the corresponding part in the song.
So yeah, somehow a bunch of the taps got moved earlier than they should be.

TTR3 tracks not backed up correctly in itunes. So I just got my ipod replaced, because it had a ton of dead pixels show up. I had made a backup of my device, so (after 5 attempts... it's not just as simple as "click restore") I finally got it correctly restored. TTR1 is fine, TTR2 is fine... TTR3 is not.
Every single song that I've clicked on tells me the audio file is messed up, which means I need to redownload every single song again.
Has anybody restored from the TTR3 backup successfully? If not, perhaps you could take a look at this and figure out why making a backup does not correctly back up the tracks?

well, since it's here...
1. ipod touch 1st gen
2. whatever's most recent
3. no
4. yes, happens in pretty much every song except for easy difficulty, and quite honestly it's kinda hard to tell how much off it is, because the lag puts my tap at a different time than I actually tap anyway...
5. currently I still have 3.0, which has no syncing issues for me yet. Quite lovely when comparing to metallica...

I agree with agentnnc, if he/she had made a new topic, people would be yelling at him/her for not looking up older things. It's not like this is a topic that is no longer relevant: it still could be useful to Tapulous – Ceegers, on November 12, 2009 17:00

thebitingcat's reply to "What technically causes dropped taps?" was just promoted to the most useful! Ceegers and 3 other people think it's one of the best replies.
To clarify those points:
1. You tap outside of the tap zone, tap the case, accidentally double tap, or do something to cause the hardware to misinterpret your actions, ie. Release a hold and tap a tapper simultaneously can make the hardware react like you slid your finger across the area.
2. On Extreme tracks, when two tappers in adjacent rows are near simultaneous, and your reaction to the first is both slightly late and inside of an overlapped tap area, the game logic will sometimes assign the first tap to the second tapper. Though you are still within the grace period for the first tapper the game assumes that your first tap was intended for the next tapper to reach the tap line. You can compensate by tapping slightly sooner, playing far wider with outside lanes, or waiting for the next release which hopefully will have added the single line of code that's in my head that would fix the issue but not affect the way the game plays for people who need the tap zones to overlap.
Also, to avoid issues from occuring too often, plug in instead of using battery power. Game response time improves, and little 'hiccups' that have thrown off perfectly timed taps will disappear, thus improving your score.
