cgarcia shared an idea in Feedly on May 23, 2009 17:48:
Several RSS feed setsI'd like to have a feedly page to read at home and another at the office, but not having to create a new Google account for that, as you cannot be signed up in more than one Google account at a time. Probably can be achieved by being able not to synchronize with Google Reader, or being able to sychronize with Bloglines...

2 problems now on Mac + Firefox 3: auth loop and plugin sorry pageAlthough currently there is no plugin support no in Mac OS X (and I doubt about Power PC support), there are two annoying things that could/should work but don't (Environment: Firefox 3.0.1, Macosx 10.4.11, through mod_proxy / tinyproxy):
- I can login to my photosynth account, but when the session expires, the main photosynth page enters in a loop that finishes in an Ooops page. Removing the RPSAuth cookie from photosynth.net fixes this, but clearly is no good behaviour.
- Safari does not seem to be affected by this, but a funny / odd page appears after signing in, where you have to select sign in to really sign in...
- As I can login to photosynth and see my synth index, I would expect I could edit the non-synth aspects of my synths: description, name, etc. That would happen if the photosynth didn't try to be too helpful: When I select one synth instead of showing the usual square with the plugin missing symbol and the rest of the page unchanged, it redirects the page to the usual "sorry mac is no there yet" page. Result: I cannot edit the details of my synth even if I don't need any kind of plugin support to do it.
(and I need to change the name because PS complained it was duplicated when in fact the duplicate did never show up)...
I know, you are working on the Mac plugin, but this does not seem to depend on that. If you will do something about it I can provide more details on the first issue-

cgarcia replied on August 23, 2008 10:58 to the problem "The plugin shows the cloud but no pictures." in Microsoft Live Labs:
There seem to be two things involved. One is that sometimes, the plugin does not download any picture, just one white rectangle. One is that it may get stuck showing only the cloud of points.
For this last one, it seems a bug (or maybe a feature) easy to reproduce: press ctrl, then alt without unpressing ctrl, then unpress ctrl, then unpress alt, and there you are, stuck in "cloud mode".
Pressing ctl alone or in combination can get you back to seeing the pictures, if they have been downloaded.
cgarcia replied on August 23, 2008 08:20 to the praise "Quite satisfied with Get Satisfaction, thank you!" in Get Satisfaction:
Get satisfaction is one of the best things in the launch of Photosynth. It is a great improvement over traditional support forums. Love the interface and it makes it very easy not to duplicate existing questions. And makes more bearable the wait for bandwidth and stability on their part...
One small idea for improvement: Kudos and "you're doing good" messages do not exactly fit any of the four items (problems, questions, ideas or discussions), I don't know if I have missed any button. It would probably be nice to see what the general user feeling with a service or a product is... although I am not sure that so many people go to the support forum to express satisfaction, it's probably nice to have.

The plugin shows the cloud but no pictures.Sometimes, the plugin is able to show the cloud, but it does not download the pictures. This has happened in the "busy" hours, in which a reload is not an option (I would be given a different synth), but also it happened yesterday in the explore section with the murano boats. If I go to the grid view, I only see a white rectangle in the upper right.
I am not sure if there is a reload button in the plugin or some way to request the download of more pictures.

cgarcia replied on August 23, 2008 07:56 to the discussion "What features should we add to Photosynth?" in Microsoft Live Labs:
Two additional features on the player:
- Smoothed navigation: being able to see intermediate positions between two pictures, so that you can stop while moving from one picture to the next, and see the intermediate angles. There are similar suggestions about a more "3D" view. The current navigation experience is slightly "jerky". Like moving from a collection of pictures to a more 3d panorama
- A way to ask to preload more images. Now that the server is slightly "bandwidth challenged" you can see how the experience would be for a "bandwidth challenged" user: you have to wait for the picture to come into focus, which detracts from the smooth navigation effect (and makes you feel like someone visually challenged). Either a button to preload all pictures, or to preload just neighbouring pictures from where you are.-
