Is there any news on this? There is an account that has been inactive for one year now and the page at http://help.twitter.com/forums/26257/... says Twitter is working on "bulk-releasing all inactive usernames".

I have the same problem! Google ought to make it clear which account is which, although on the subsequent page, it gives a hint by the url (it will contain "/a/" if it is an apps domain). – Chaz6, on June 13, 2009 14:07
Chaz6 shared an idea in Facebook on May 19, 2009 17:50:
Support for OpenID 2 and i-namesFacebook has finally added support for linking an OpenID account (https://register.facebook.com/editacc... → Linked Accounts). However, only the old OpenID v1 spec is supported. This means that i-names (e.g. "=first.last" and "xri://=first.last") cannot be associated with a facebook account. Version 2 of the OpenID specification can be found at http://openid.net/specs/openid-authen.... The sections pertaining to i-names are:- 7.2, 7.3, 9.1, 11.2, 13, 14.1, 15.6.
