I have a feeling this might be more complicated than it's worth, but I'd like your opinion anyway. Many of my projects involve making enhancements to existing applications or sites. Before I can design the UI enhancements, I need to create a mockup of the existing screen or web page, which can be a tedious process especially when the proposed change is minor from a UI perspective.

Would there be a way for the system to automatically create a mockup from a screenshot image? Or by pointing out the application itself maybe? As I'm writing it sounds insanely complicated, but I was thinking of applications like Quick Test Pro that can detect controls and objects on a screen.

Yes, I think that'd work.
Considering the size of most of my UI sketches, I could afford to have a permanently visible P.I.-- save those precious seconds interacting with the program and spend it staring at the mockup ;)

Property Inspector display setting

I find myself often clicking on controls to figure out the size and location, so that I can judge the position and size of new controls. I find that the Property Inspector is far too transparent and brief unless I click on it. I appreciate that the current behaviour might be useful, but would it be helpful to add an configuration option so that property inspector stays opaque and permanent when you click on a control?

Hi just bought the license yesterday so I might be missing something obvious.
I'm noticing that the Position and Size values are not retaining the changed values when I press Enter. In this case, I was trying to modify the Browser Window object's properties in order to position it at 0,0 with a 1024,768 size. Every time I edit size and press enter, it reverts back to the default. Is 0,0 not a valid location? The online help seems to suggest that it is (http://www.balsamiq.com/products/mock...).

The field appears to accept values sometimes and reject it other times. Is there a particular way to edit the Position and Size properties?
