A comment on the idea "Prepending all Pings" in Ping.fm:
Also, I'm not sure what people would complain about if they could change it on a per service basis. Set it up once (or use the sensible default) and forget about it. – Callum Macdonald, on June 19, 2008 02:27
A comment on the idea "Prepending all Pings" in Ping.fm:
I hold a different view. I think most services are consistent in how they display messages between users. So Facebook has their way, LinkedIn has theirs, etc, but they're the same for all users. So either a sensible default per service, or a user chosen text per service, would do the trick. – Callum Macdonald, on June 19, 2008 02:26

Great idea. Definitely very necessary.
Given that ping.fm integrates with so many services, and will presumably be continually adding new services over time, I think the options need to be on a per service level. So I can have all Faceook status updates prefaced with "says" so they appear "Callum says Blah" but Twitter statuses posted straight with nothing prepended.
It's got to be a per-service option. Then it'll be future proof, flexible, and if most people are happy with it, they can ignore it. Plus, sensible defaults could be set for new services.

Callum Macdonald reported a problem in Vodafone Australia on June 06, 2008 07:33:
Complaints can only be filed in writingVodafone will only accept complaints in writing. They accept all other forms of communication (new accounts, disconnections, transfers, etc) by phone, but complaints must be filed in writing. I'd recommend all Vodafone customers in Australia write to complain!

Adding a cap loses any existing creditIf you top up your vodafone prepaid account with a new $29 or $49 cap, you will lose any existing credit. I believe this to be outrageous. I would urge any Vodafone customers to complain to:

Callum Macdonald started a conversation in Media Template on June 03, 2008 02:34:
Outrageous bandwidth chargesMedia Template have an utterly outrageous bandwidth pricing plan. I mention this to warn other potential customers of this pricing atrocity.
Their dedicated virtual extreme server costs $150 per month and includes 2Tb of bandwidth. Additional bandwidth is charged at $2.56 per Gb or if you purchase 1Tb, that price is halved to $1.28 per Gb. This means each additional Tb after the first 2Tb, will cost you a whopping $1'310.72, or 17.4 times the cost of your first 2Tb.
You can see this in their KB article here:
http://kb.mediatemple.net/questions/766
If you plan to host a high-bandwidth site, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. 2Tb is over 65Gb per day, but you'd best hope you don't go over, or you'll pay through the nose.
Callum Macdonald replied on June 02, 2008 02:22 to the question "When will RSS feeds start working again?" in Twitter:
Just in case anyone hasn't understood yet. To subscribe to the "You plus friends" timeline you must provide a username and password. I believe Google Reader doesn't support this at the moment.
This was the problem I had. Twitter introduced this change recently with no warning that I noticed. So suddenly my feed was getting a 401 error.
The format to supply your username and password as a single URL is like this:
http://USERNAME:PASSWORD@twitter.com/statuses/friends_timeline/XXXXX.rss
So that's username colon password at then the regular url. The http:// part must come before. So the usernamd and password are inserted right after the // before twitter.com. :)-
