Chris Yeh replied on June 09, 2008 16:29 to the problem "Privacy policy needed!" in PBwiki:
James,
Apologies for the lack of clarity. I'm responsible for the webinar signup forms, and it did not occur to me that people might feel concerned about their privacy.
All the information we gather on our webinar registration forms are solely for use by PBwiki; we do not share it or sell it in any way. I'll add such a note to the webinar signup pages to make this completely clear.
Thanks for voicing your concern! I'm sure there were others who felt the same fear, but were reluctant to speak up.

Chris Yeh replied on May 15, 2008 20:54 to the question "Why do I only have 3 pbwiki templates to choose from?" in PBwiki:
Emily,
The issue is that you are using a 1.0 educator wiki. In that version of the product, those are in fact the only templates that are built in. You could create a 2.0 wiki instead, but many educators prefer 1.0 because they can use wiki invite keys (AKA passwords).
If you want to stick with your current wiki, go to the Template Demo web site, and copy and paste the desired template into your wiki, and tag it with the word "template".
Now you'll have the template available as a user-created template.
The demo site is:
http://templatedemo.pbwiki.com/
The Meeting template is:

Chris Yeh replied on April 25, 2008 21:31 to the question "use for pta?" in PBwiki:
This does sound like an educational use, but will require a paid account.
The way you set up different levels of editability is to use our page- and folder-level access controls.
Using folder-level access controls, you can set up a folder in which all pages can be edited by a select group, but are read-only for a different set of users.
You can also set up a folder where all the users of the wiki can edit the content.
One other alternative is to make you wiki public, so that anyone can read the content, but only the chosen few can edit it. This would be a free use case, but wouldn't have the flexibility of folder-based access levels.

Mike, now that we're out of the beta period, you can upgrade to a paid account. The amount of storage you get depends on which plan you choose.
If you are not a business user, $99.50/year gets you 1 GB, $249.50/year gets you 2 GB, and $999.50/year gets you 5 GB.
If you are a business user, $8/user/month gets you 10 GB.
Chris Yeh replied on April 16, 2008 21:56 to the idea "Please bring back "Invite Keys" for Wiki 2.0!" in PBwiki:
Making 2.0 suitable for classrooms is one of our top priorities. We're working on solutions that will let you add your entire class without having to manually enter the email addresses. There are many ways to do this, so your thoughts on the ideal solution are welcome.
For example, should there simply be an invite key? The issue there is that it's tough to deal with individual users who cause problems. Changing the invite key becomes a pain.
Or how about letting people enter an invite key, but then requiring them to create their own PBwiki account, so that you can track your users?
For some wikis, it might be appropriate simply to let people request access, and then allow the wiki's administrators to select who gets access.
Any other suggestions?

Chris Yeh replied on March 20, 2008 20:39 to the question "Custom domain a-la-carte pricing ?" in PBwiki:
Steve,
Will the wiki be public or private?
For public wikis, we have a less expensive plan that includes the custom domain feature.
For private wikis, it depends on how you're going to be using the wiki.
I'm also going to ask our sales team to pitch in so that they can help figure out exactly what package makes sense for you.

Chris Yeh replied on March 20, 2008 20:02 to the question "Are there ready made templates?" in PBwiki:
Great question, Eddie.
We just launched a whole set of templates for PBwiki 2.0, including a weekly schedule template for planning out work hours, availability, etc.
To access any of these templates, just click "Create New Page" and select one of the templates from the list of "PBwiki templates".
The templates include everything from Company Policies to a simple To Do List.
Once you create the page, modify the template to your like, as you would with any other page.
If you want to make your own templates, simply tag the page with the keyword "template", and it will automatically show up in the "<wikiname> templates" list on the page creation page.</wikiname>
