Chris replied on December 22, 2008 07:36 to the question "Progress toward merging subdomains? Just wondering." in Yola:
Hi Bengo, thanks for the patience!
We don't currently have the ability to transfer a domain to SynthaSite, but I can tell you it's a feature that's high on our development list since it's often requested. I don't have an ETA on it since we're working on many features to add for domains, but I'll try to drop you a note (and you'll see it on the blog posts which you obviously follow!) when we've added it.
We also don't have the ability to redirect SynthaSite subdomains to domains purchased elsewhere right now, but I'll look into adding this as well.
Do you have many links to or much traffic to your subdomains? If not, then you could use this workaround: You can "unpublish" your site, and republish it to your custom domain. You'll then only have the three custom domains - the caveat here is you'll lose the traffic to your subdomain. If your traffic is mostly from search engines, then a lot of this could transfer to your new domains when they're crawled and the index is updated.
You could also publish a new site to the subdomains that tells visitors your new addresses.
If the workarounds wouldn't work for you (and I know they're far from ideal), then please continue to bear with us as we build out the domain functionality. If you have any other requests, please let us know - we (and I personally) appreciate it!-

Hi Dave - your site will show up on your new domain in a few hours. It can sometimes take up to 48 hours, but typically doesn't take that long.
If you don't see your site show up after this time, please either post your URL here or email it to supoort@synthasite.com and we can look into it.
Best of luck with your site!

As I mentioned on another post at http://getsatisfaction.com/SynthaSite... , you can now upgrade to a custom domain at any time. We'll automatically redirect users that visit your old subdomain to your brand new custom domain!
Chris shared an idea in Yola on December 18, 2008 19:15:
Upgrading your site from a subdomain to your own custom domain - the old subdomain will now automatically redirect to your new addressMany users have asked to purchase their own custom domain (such as Example.com) after they've already published their site to a subdomain. We've taken your feedback into account and have now made that easier for you.
You can now purchase a domain after you've already published to a subdomain - your old address (such as example.synthasite.com) will automatically redirect to your new address (www.example.com). This way, you won't lose the value of any links or visitors that only know your old location and they'll see your new domain.
You'll see the option to upgrade to a custom domain after you update your site. If you purchase one from here, we'll take care of all of the setup.
As always, please let us know if you have any questions!
Happy Holidays
