Chris replied on December 14, 2008 23:19 to the question "how do i buy a domain for synthasite" in Yola:
Hi FrogMan - when you click "publish" or "update my site" in the upper right-hand corner of the site creator, you'll be shown the option to purchase a custom domain. All you have to do is type in what domain you want (be sure to try other variations if the first one you try isn't available), and click "Purchase."
The cost is only $14.95 per year, and we'll send you an email in about 11 months when it's time to renew it.
PayPal handles the payments for us - you'll be able to pay via Credit Card or your PayPal account.
After purchase, we'll set up the new domain automatically for you. It could take up to 48 hours for all of the servers around the world to pick up the change, but it often takes only a couple of hours.

Chris replied on December 13, 2008 01:13 to the question "would like more information to buy my own domain" in Yola:
HI Amy, I'll answer all of your questions here, but I changed the order around a bit:
can I continue to have it even after my year is up?
Yes - when it gets close to being time to renew, we'll send you an email and you'll be able to renew it for another year.
will it ever get deleted after I purchase it?
We won't delete your site, but your domain will expire if it's not renewed like mentioned above. However, even if your domain expires, you'll be able to log into SynthaSite and publish your site to another domain or subdomain.
could I buy two years instead of just one?
We don't have the ability to do that yet, but I've heard the request several times so I can confirm that we're working on it.
will it have the building materials available to build the site just like the free one has?
Yes - you'll have the exact same tools!
Best of luck on your site!

Chris replied on December 11, 2008 23:04 to the question "registering a domain" in Yola:
Hi Realblonde - I just saw your posts here and wanted to let you know that your website was up when I checked it - you can see your website by typing the same thing you did above into your browser navigation bar or clicking here: http://www.happyherdsminigoats.com .
Is it possible that the address was typed in wrong when you checked your site? If not, and you still do not see it when you click the above link, please let us know!-

Chris replied on December 06, 2008 03:04 to the question "I signed up for a free site and recived a email stating that I was going to be charged for every person that visits it??" in Yola:
Hi MEME,
SynthaSite is a free service - there is no charge to create a site with the tool or host it on our servers.
There is a small charge for some additional features, such as purchasing your own .com domain name, but these features are entirely optional. I should note that none of these features charge you per visit.
Did you sign up at http://www.synthasite.com?
Please send us an email at support@synthasite.com if you don't want to post any more details publicly - our team will help you at as best we can. In addition, if you could forward us a copy of the email you're referring to, that may help as well.
A comment on the question "Finding my site by "googling" it" in Yola:
Hey Jason - Have you submitted your sitemap to Google using Webmaster Tools? Here's the tutorial: http://www.synthasite.com/tutorials/g... .
That may not speed up anything, but at least it makes sure that Google has the information it needs to find all pages of your site! – Chris, on December 05, 2008 22:18

Chris replied on December 05, 2008 19:43 to the question "Fotolia promotion problems" in Yola:
Hi Lex - Thanks for asking this question. I meant to put up some information about the Fotolia promotion on here, but It slipped my mind yesterday.
When you click the link in our email (or here), you're taken to http://www.fotolia.com/promo/synthasi... . If you sign up on this page, Fotolia will automatically add the three free credits to your account.
The credits will appear in your account after you confirm your email address. If you've confirmed your account but don't see the credits, it may just take a little while to process on their side.
Here's what I see in an account I created last night, on the left-hand side after clicking the "member home" tab:

I'm excited to work with the Fotolia folks, and grateful that we were able to offer our users this promotion. At $1-$3 per photo, you can't beat their prices on images of that quality.
Cheers!-

A comment on the update "Purchase your own custom domain - either the first time you publish or any time you update" in Yola:
@EducationDurham - You can choose where to publish each website, so the name you choose for one won't affect the others. You can have multiple sites, and some can be published to subdomains and some to custom domains.
Regarding the 'old' address, your site will be published to both addresses so visitors can reach your site with either. In the future, we'll redirect users who visit your old address to your new one, but we don't have this feature live yet.
Good luck with your new domain if you get one! – Chris, on December 05, 2008 01:42
A comment on the update "Purchase your own custom domain - either the first time you publish or any time you update" in Yola:
Hi Jeremy - the system is not currently set up to redirect from your old subdomain to the new domain, but we're working on implementing this as we speak.
As it stands now, your site will be published (and updated) to both locations.
Soon, your subdomain will automatically redirect (without showing a screen) to the new location. I'll be sure to announce this when we have it out! – Chris, on December 04, 2008 18:36
A comment on the question "Any plans for more professional-looking content?" in Yola:
As Randy mentioned about a month ago, we've been working on some customizable templates - he just posted an update at http://getsatisfaction.com/SynthaSite... announcing the new styles! – Chris, on December 03, 2008 21:44
