Purchase your own custom domain - either the first time you publish or any time you updateWhen you publish or update your site now, you'll see an option to purchase your own custom domain. Publishing a website to a subdomain of SynthaSite (http://example.synthasite.com) will still be free, but many of our users have asked for an easy way to use a custom domain (in the form of www.example.com.)
Having your own domain can help your site stand out and help establish your online identity. Having a memorable site address will help repeat visitors remember your site and new users find it in search engines.
A custom domain is only $14.95/year - you'll own the domain, and we'll automatically configure it to work.
When you publish or update your site, you'll now see the following option:
If the domain you want isn't available, keep trying out variations! For instance, I tried to get my first name.com and it was taken, but my full name was available. Simply enter a new domain in the box, and we'll check to see if it's available for you.
As always, please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any questions.-

Hi NSHS, would you mind sharing your site here so I can take a look at it? It seems to be working as I mentioned above on one of my test sites.
Since we didn't build the widget I obviously don't know everything about it, but my experiences have been good so far.
Does anyone else have any positive or negative feedback?

Hi HSHS - your users won't be able to see the "delete" button that you see next to the comments. – Chris, on November 25, 2008 18:06

Hi withasterisk - what page are you referring to that you're trying to get a similar search box from? The easiest way to add a Google search box to your page is to drag the "Widgetbox Gallery" icon onto your page. The very first widget that you see will be a Google Search widget that we made - just click it and you'll have one!

Hi Shaunee - Information about comments on blogs can be found on an idea I just posted here: http://getsatisfaction.com/SynthaSite...
Good luck with your blog!

I wanted to add that the code above can also be used in blogs.
Please follow our blogging tutorial (http://www.synthasite.com/tutorials/b...) to see our instructions for adding comments to your blog. If you'd like, you can use the code I included above rather than the Disqus code - try out both services and see which one fits your needs best!
Chris shared an idea in Yola on November 24, 2008 23:55:
How to easily add comments to your SynthaSite pagesWe’ve had several people ask recently how to add comments to your website. While we don’t yet have an integrated solution, the folks over at http://js-kit.com have a great solution that’s easy to implement. There’s no intricate setup needed on your part, and the comments will automatically take on the appearance (such as text color) of the rest of your site.
To allow your users to add comments to your page:
1. Open your site in the SynthaSite site builder
2. On the page that you want to add comments to, drag the “HTML” icon onto the correct location in your page – the html widget will pop up.
3. Copy the following two lines of code onto that page and click “OK”:
<div class="js-kit-comments" permalink=""></div>
<script src="http://js-kit.com/comments.js"></script>
The comments will be tracked automatically by js-kit and be tied to that page’s URL – if you add it to other pages, those pages will have their own set of comments. When you create the page, js-kit will know that you’re the owner – only you will have the ability to moderate posts.
This easy solution should meet the needs of most people I’ve seen asking, but I look forward to seeing your feedback!
