Chris Giles asked a question in Wuala on July 27, 2008 12:05:
Wuala Loader: Version NumberI want to find out the version number of the new "loader2.jar" file.
The old "loader.jar" file used to print its version number (0.9) when I called "./wuala --help" from the command-line.
The new "loader2.jar" file doesn't do this. I can find out the Wuala version by calling "./wuala version", but that's not the info I'm wanting. I want the version number of the Wuala 'loader' only. How can I get it?

No worries! I'm happy to help out such a neat project and thanks for the reward :-).
I've recently updated the AUR script, as noted below.
PKGBUILD 0.9-3 has the following changes:
* Added a new "wuala-tray" script to "/usr/bin/"
* Added a LICENSE file, copied from the Wuala website
* The "wuala-cmd" script in "/usr/bin/" now works
* Linked to "wuala-tray" in user's "~/.kde/Autostart/" directory.
That last one should keep them online for a while longer :-).

Chris Giles reported a problem in Wuala on June 13, 2008 11:56:
Failure: rdiff-backupAt first glance, Wuala seems to work okay with 'rsync'.
However, I can't get it working with "rdiff-backup". I keep getting the "Stale NFS file handle" error. Are you aware of this problem and when will it be fixed?

Regarding that bug, I don't think it's fixed yet. My Local Cache size is 7GB. It says that I have 2.7GB used and when I click 'Clear cache', I still have 2.7GB used. Meanwhile, my wuala folder has 4.7GB (and I'm not uploading nor downloading anything).
But it's OK with me. Optimize it when you have the time. Since maintenance is not essential and it's used mainly to improve download speed I'll delete the wuala folder if it becomes really really big.

Thanks for the reply. I created a Wuala AUR PKGBUILD for Arch Linux users on Monday. It can be viewed here: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php...
Wuala is installed using 'sudo' to "/usr/" and copied to "/home/user/wuala/". This allows me to keep the Wuala launcher up-to-date for all users via AUR, while Wuala can still update the 'Prog4' directory itself.

Hi Chris,
Yes, this is no problem for us. But as we do not have a running Arch Linux here (and no experience with Arch Linux at all..), we cannot give support for this version..
You need write access to the Wuala folder (for updates, meta data, fragments, ..), otherwise Wuala won't run. Maybe you could install it to /opt? But then you need to adjust the permissions such that everyone can write in /opt/wuala.

I finished uploading a few files last night, totalling about 100 MB. I was annoyed when my dodgy Internet connection then died during the 'maintenance' phase. When I reconnected and logged back into Wuala, the maintenance did not resume.
Is there a way that I can manually re-initiate this, to continue spreading the 100 MB across the P2P network? If not, how long must I wait before the next maintenance phase for these files will begin automatically?

Chris Giles asked a question in Wuala on June 06, 2008 08:38:
Packaging: Arch LinuxI'd like to make Wuala available for other Arch Linux users via the Arch User Repository (AUR).
To do this, I'll need to create a PKGBUILD script that downloads and installs Wuala in a system-wide location like "/usr/share/wuala/". Will you allow me to do this?
It could be difficult, given that the non-root user who intends to use Wuala must have write access to the installation directory. How can I overcome this?
