check admin rights, we have a user who cannot launch because she isnt admin on her pc. it worked for a day or 2, but then nothing, i think it is related to adobe air updater.

we have this issue here, but it is related to limited user not having sufficient rights for adobe air to update, also as a point of reference, zone alarm is one of the worst firewalls in terms of being overly protective, and as you pointed out, it is often difficult to get programs through it.

I see this internally when a user tries to launch as a limited user, not an admin user. if you right click and select run as... it works fine after authenticating admin credentials, i on the other hand need to find a way to get it to run as limited. any suggestions?

I noticed that if you are a limited user, and have an admin account give you permissions to the Tweetdeck folder (i also removed the update string from the config.xml file under the tweetdeck\config folder), when you launch the program, you get what you are describing, i think it is related more toward the config.xml file rather than the admin permissions. i have a user who needs to run tweetdeck, but you apparently need to be an admin user for it to function properly, as it tries to launch adobe air updater when it opens. try running as admin, see if that helps.
