Agreed. I'll gladly submit a new bug report but the one outlined above does not seem to be related. I'm in the same boat as exactopposite. – grew, on April 16, 2009 14:33

Yep. Same here. Mine doesn't seem to go as long as 10 minutes, but it does take a few minutes before it clears from the Process Explorer Must-Kill List!!! I end up just going directly to Process Explorer to kill it every time I close Songbird. Minor inconvenience, really, but something that's GOT to be fixed eventually. I have same config. Clean install of Vista with clean install of Songbird. Glad to know I'm not the only sufferer! Sorry, exactopposite. Know it's no consolation. – grew, on April 16, 2009 01:43

I checked the console and the only thing that appears is this:
No chrome package registered for chrome://browser/skin/pref/pref.css
When I start up Songbird (prefetch or not) it drives CPU to 70% for a brief few seconds (that's fine) and then runs seemingly fine until I shut down the app. Then it cycles up to 78% - 100% CPU and freezes my mouse for up to five minutes and then closes and everything goes back to normal... I have the base add-ons that come with the installation minus MashTape and Last.fm. I had this problem with only those add-ons. I have since added a few more but the problem has persisted. Not any better or worse.
grew asked a question in Songbird on March 11, 2009 14:28:
Huge CPU consumption on close with Songbird 1.1I'm using latest stable version of Songbird (1.1). It opens far more quickly than previous versions. Yeah! But when I close it, it consumes HUGE amounts of CPU (up to 70% on both core processors) and makes my system pretty unresponsive (jerky mouse, etc.) for about 3-4 minutes. Then all is well. BTW, this did not happen on nightly builds for v.1.2 (e.g Songbird_1.2.0a-1015). I am running Vista Ultimate SP1. Firewall and AV is Comodo (configured with Songbird trusted). No viruses, etc.
Help? Please?
Keep up the good work. You're getting there...

Finally, iTunes is officially trashed from my 'puter!I am running the Songbird_1.2.0a-1007 nightly build with corresponding add-ons. It is MUCH better! It starts up in 5 seconds whereas the last one had startup times >30 seconds. The Mounting of the Ipod still takes approx. 10 minutes (way too long, obviously) but at least it mounts properly and syncs well. I also seem to get a glitch when double-clicking on a song to play. Sometimes (and with different songs but same format , i.e. mp3) whe I double click a song it will jump to the next one without playing the one I clicked. This is behaviour that reminds me of WMP when you click on a non-palyable track. But when I go back and double-click it again, it will play fine in Songbird, so it's not a problem with the track. Just a bit annoying, that's all. Also, video playlists don't seem to port over even though the .mp4 files do. Curious... My "formerly known as podcasts" do not seem to work that well, but I can live without for time being, but would be nice to see that peice worked out over time. Otherwise, great work. Have submitted my crash reports like a good boy and hope you guys keep up the good work. I have finally trashed my iTunes permanently!!! Yeah!!!
