Christine Herron reported a problem in Google on August 19, 2009 04:41:
Google Calendar is hijacking Outlook meeting responsesI use Outlook with Exchange server for my daily calendar. When I send a meeting invitation, it comes from my christine@myworkemail.com alias. The invited attendee gets the meeting invitation in their email inbox, where they can accept/reject the invitation. Their response USUALLY comes back to christine@myworkemail.com, where it both shows up in my email inbox, and the acceptance is indicated in the meeting item.
Over the past week or so, I have not been receiving responses that people are sending. I figured out today (I happened to log into my Google account, which I rarely use) that their responses are being sent to my @gmail account rather than back to my @myworkemail account. What the *#$? I am guessing that these people use Google Calendar, and since Google knows @myworkemail as another email alias, it's not bothering to send me the responses any more. Really, really annoying.
Other than disassociating @myworkemail.com alias from my Google account (which I don't want to do, since it's useful for having all my Google docs in one place), does anyone know how to tell Google to cut this out? And why did it just start happening? If anyone can shed light here it would be great.
Christine Herron replied on August 10, 2009 21:23 to the problem "Blog/site is failing to load - server taking too long to respond" in Six Apart:
I am having this problem again today - I wrote a blog post this morning, when I went to check the site I could not get it to load. Per the earlier suggestions, I did clear the cache in Firefox. No dice, still not loading.
I also tried using Safari (which should be squeaky clean as I NEVER use it), and had both a PC/IE user and another Mac/FIrefox user from my office try to visit from their laptops. Still not loading anywhere. Please help!
Christine Herron asked a question in Tide on June 12, 2009 16:43:
Can Tide HE be used in combination with other products? Can Tide HE be used together with other cleaning products in my LG front-loading HE washer? I love to use Tide (Consumer Reports rated it one of the best for HE washers!) - but Oxi-Clean helps to get rid of certain types of stains. Can they be used together? Also, what if I am using chlorine bleach (I know, I am hopelessly old-fashioned)? I expect that this works fine with Tide HE, but don't know if that means I need to keep out the Oxi-Clean.
Any advice on what works well together for lights vs. darks would be terrific!

Christine Herron reported a problem in Comcast on June 02, 2009 04:17:
Why is Comcast channel 707 (ABC in HD, San Francisco) not working? My channel 707 (ABC in HD) in San Francisco is showing in standard definition. All of my other HD channels are displaying properly in HD. I tried to contact Comcast customer service and not only was treated as if I was wrong at every step of the time-consuming process, but also was given conflicting information (from 'abc not available in my area,' to 'you need a technician,' to 'you are not eligible for HD').
Since I was not able to get resolution from customer service, here is the transcript. It would be great if someone else has a solution.

Christine Herron reported a problem in Six Apart on February 19, 2009 23:50:
Blog/site is failing to load - server taking too long to respondMy blog is down - HELP! This was happening intermittently this morning, then it was fine, and now it is down again:
Type in http://christine.net, which then (normally) resolves to bring up http://spacejockeys.blogs.com/christine. Visitor gets a page load error because the server is taking too long to respond. The same problem occurs if you enter http://spacejockeys.blogs.com/christine or even http://spacejockeys.blogs.com directly into the address bar.
I'm using Firefox but also tried this on IE. Same problem.
UPDATE 8/10/09: The problem is back, see new reply in thread.

"Failed to connect. Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at ipetitions.com."
Tried from both home and work today, same result.
Christine Herron replied on January 29, 2009 17:37 to the question "Wayward Student Needs Bag ASAP" in Timbuk2:
I am also petite (5'2" and 115) and literally ordered/returned four bags after my cool Korean backpack died. All of the bags looked ridiculous and were somewhat uncomfortable because they were too wide for my back, hitting me in the back of the head, or riding too low on my back. And I needed a decent-sized backpack to fit my 15" MacBook Pro.
I was thrilled to find that this "Timbuk2 Hacker Backpack" fit me perfectly. After much trial and error with the bags I tried from Amazon, Zappos, and eBags, the key is to not go wider than 12" or longer than 16" in order to fit your petite back.
http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/products/l...
Note: I don't even try to use messenger bags since I am so small...no way for them to be ergonomic or well-balanced once stuffed with books and a laptop. I don't need to walk too far before my back starts hurting.

Christine Herron reported a problem in Triggit on August 22, 2008 20:35:
Triggit's Typepad widget crashes Internet ExplorerThe Triggit widget is crashing Internet Explorer. Here's the background of my identifying the issue as a user; it would be great to see the problem resolved so that I could add Triggit back onto my blog (http://christine.net).
My blog's home page began creating an error for me, and for two of my readers. I am using Internet Explorer 7.0.6000.16705, on Windows XP 2002 Service Pack 2. The home page loads about halfway, then I get this popup error:
"Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site http://www.christine.net/.
Operation aborted"
After clicking OK on the popup, I see this page error:
"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
Most likely causes:
- You are not connected to the Internet.
- The website is encountering problems.
- There might be a typing error in the address."
I was able to hear back from one other person, and he is using IE 7.5730.11. He sent me a screenshot of the error and it appears to be identical to the one I am receiving. The difference is that the error is crashing his browser after the popup, whereas I simply get the page error after the popup.
At the suggestion of Typepad's tech support folks, I removed the widgets from my sidebars one at a time, checking to see if the blog displays correctly after each one. I took everything off one by one, and after removing the Triggit widget things displayed normally. I have added the other widgets back in, and (fingers crossed) the site is still coming up fine in IE. So it looks like the Triggit widget caused the problem...

Hi Amy,
I was searching on American flights and using Firefox 3. Note: when the flight's price changed, I did get an email, and when I went back to yapta.com the tracking is showing up. SO it's working for me now, but I don't know if the original problem of not showing up initially is still lurking underneath.

Can't get tracked flights to show up in trackerAny idea why a flight would show as ‘tracked’, but not show up on the My Trips page? Am I doing something wrong?
Note: when I clicked on ‘track this flight’ in search results, I got an error message, then when I re-ran the search, it showed the ‘tracked’ flag after all. I'm searching for PDX - PBI from 12/26 - 1/3, and I am looking at the View All tab and selecting an American r/t option.

Why don't people mind when Twitter is down? Why don't people mind when Twitter is down? If another online or communication service failed as frequently as Twitter does, folks would drift away to alternative channels. Instead, most Twitter users look at the situation with bemusement, or at worst a temporary anger that does not impact their continued use of the service.
What is it about Twitter that makes down time less of a problem? Has a strange social dynamic been cultivated, and if so, is it replicable?
