Songbird mediaplayerLove soundcloud from the first moment... Did you ever think about making use of the songbird api??? Great music player and communication over JS should be quite an easy task...
Clamm replied on June 27, 2009 09:26 to the question "Why is Isan release so unstable??" in Songbird:
Isan works pretty well for the majority of the people but unfortunately there can always be conflicts with hardware or software which difffers from one to another computer. In this case i am quite sure you are using songbird on Windows or Linux. Could you provide some system information? Did you try setting up a new profile?
Clamm replied on June 25, 2009 22:00 to the problem "Managed mode sucks and should be off by default" in Songbird:
Yes, please avoid offending anyone if there is absolutely no reason... At least same happened to me. I never used managed mode in iTunes and accidently activated it while using my personal (not testing purpose) profile. I KNEW WHAT WOULD AND FINALLY HAS HAPPENED BECAUSE IT'S WRITTEN EVERYWHERE POSSIBLE. Now i have the same work in front of me - Rearranging everything as i want it to be. But there are a lot of people which used to organize their libraryin managed mode and they are all happy. So both of us belong to the people who activated a feature by accident. No fun. But our fault ;-)

Not by default! You can find information about how to activate it here:

(Just works for mp3's... rating data of other filtypes wont be saved!)
Clamm replied on June 24, 2009 07:52 to the question "Editing metadata in Songbird" in Songbird:
"In my quest to edit and complete my entire Library's metadata, is there and easier way of doing it than editing the metadata to ensure Album Artist = Artist?"
--> You could try muscibrainz picard to fetch metadata... You never know if the metadata is correctly saved on any server. But at least with musicbrainz picard you have a fairly controllable way of doing this.
"getting written back to the file"
--> Yes, metadata is written to the file and will be be available if you transfer it to any other PC

Clamm marked one of Michael Purses' replies in Songbird as useful. Michael Purses replied to the question "why cant i view artwork in windows media player??".

Clamm replied on May 25, 2009 07:48 to the question "why cant i view artwork in windows media player??" in Songbird:
Hmm, i am not that int windows mediaplayer but Songbird uses the id3v2 standard to embed artwork... After a quick search in the nternet i suppose that wmp uses its own solution. Sorry about that, but we cant do anything against a company (in this case microsoft) which decides to make their own proprietery solution

Ok guys... we dont think that we are all talking here all about the same problem... So all which reported here after greg please check if there isnt yet another thread on getSatisfaction or bugreport on bugzilla already... If not please open a new thread if things differ from what greg said...
YOU REALLY SCARED ME ;-)
GREG: Back to you... Could you please answer the following questions:
- Did you import he files via the iTunes importer?
- If "YES" could you try dragging and dropping a file onto songbird and see if it works
- Could you try a nightly build http://wiki.songbirdnest.com/Develope...
- VERY IMPORTANT: Could you try the regsvr32 command (found on the proposed bugzilla thread) and report if it succeeded or failed... This is extremly important
- there are some people in the bugzilla-thread reporting that installing the frauenhofer codec pack helped... Could you please also try that...
Sorry GREG.... we think that there could be 2 things causing that issues. First one is a corrupted Songbird installation under windows which causes the mp3-codec to be missing... The second one could be the iTunes importer
Thank you for your patience...
