Hi Thomas... yes this is possible: Just right click onto the pane of your media library which already contains track-no, artist, album etc.. There you can add "File Location" and perform a search eather on a specific folder name or filetype...

Normally it should.. i am also using an external drive (and lots of others too)... but in some occasions there have been some issues... Could you try the folowing. Copy a file to the desktop -> Drag it onto songbird -> Try to play it
... (Just to assure that everything works from that point of view)... Paste here a full path to your file as shown in the mediaplayer (You can find that for each song in the medialibrary under "File Location") and paste the path here???

And also if you are using some kind of data encryption like Truecrypt... please note that also ;-) THX...

Hi szamina... unfortunatly i dont see any gStreamer errors which would give tha nswer by themselves.. Did you check which system you use? OSX 10.4 or 10.5

Sure, that could be useful... But songbird follows the id3 standard. And unfortunatly this standard doesnt support your requested feature... I think you understand, that it wouldnt be a good approach to introduce this by songbird and eventually break all id3 tags on other players... The best advice would be that you go over to http://www.id3.org/ and propose your idea there ;-)

But anyway nice idea and thanks for the proposal!

It's very important that you use that specific build of Songbird with "OSX 10.5"... Prior versions of the system wont work correctly with Thomas Legg's actual build!! He's still working on a version which will work with 10.4 (as i've read right now on his blog)

skipping through in that manner means Songbird isnt able to locate the files at the given path... Are you using an external hard disk?

Hi there... Folder Syn doesnt appear under the "Views"-Menu...

If your "content pane" isnt open click "Views->Show Content Pane Bottom"

In the bar of that content pane you'll see a small list icon at the very right...

Clicking it will open up a menu which holds the folder sync view as an option...

Hola, vale no estoy seguro si te he entendido bien pero si quieres ordenar las listas de reproducción alfabéticamente solo debes pinchar los titulos cuales encuentras sobre la lista. Allí puedes ordenar las listas a relación a los titulos, los artistes y tal... Si no es eso que buscas explicame otra vez... Lo siento mi español no es lo mejor ;-) Saludos!!!

Maybe some people are just underestamating how much work it is to develop software like Songbird... Unless you are paying the salary of all the guys which are developing it you shouldnt argue about any comercialism... Songbird is a great piece of software WHICH IS STILL UNDER DEVELOPMENT.. please dont compare it one-to-one to projects which exist several years more... YOU GET IT FOR FREE... And the way its trying to monetize things is definetly a way everybody should be able to live with... At least i can ;-)

"Songbird was unable to edit metadata back to your media file. The metadata displayed in Songbird is now inconsistent with the metadata contained in the file... Please check that you have write permission, or reimport the file to restore the original metadata."

That normally means that:
1) Songbird didnt wirte any file information because it was unable to
2) The Information is written to the Songbird-Database but differs from the file because it didnt write any information...

Could you please check if the file was actually modified during the time using songbird??? Regargding your second post... Do you have this problem only with songbird... or are other programs also showing incorrect information.. What program have ypu been used to tag your files with????

DO you mean adding files to Songbird???

Drag and drop the folder which contains the files to the songbird window...

OR EVEN BETTER (If you want to have a full automatic sync):
Enable "Watch folders" under Preferences->Media Importer
