heheh. Yeah -- the Ad Hoc system is built on the same kind of encryption/permissions system as the apps you download from the App Store. Only authorized devices are permitted to install. – Chris Clark, on August 23, 2008 03:38

Just because the files are public doesn't mean everyone can install the beta. Your specific device must be given permission, which is what we've done with the beta crew – Chris Clark, on August 23, 2008 03:30

To clarify to beta testers: drag BOTH the Tap Tap app bundle AND the AdHoc.mobileprovision into the "Applications" screen of iTunes, then sync your phone.
If you have problems, my first suggestion would be to delete Tap Tap from your phone and from the Applications section of iTunes, then sync, then drag the two files into iTunes, then sync again.

LOL OK thanks everyone for their concern about publicly sharing the beta link.
Strictly speaking, anybody who isn't in the beta crew won't be able to install this on their devices because their device IDs aren't authorized -- this is all part of the elaborate system Apple has put in place for provisioning phones for beta testing.
We don't condone hacking your phone to try and get it on an unauthorized device. We don't support hacked devices. – Chris Clark, on August 23, 2008 03:22

The beta is at http://tapulous.com/ttrbeta.zip
From what I've heard, even on Windows, just drag it into the "Applications" area of iTunes.
