A comment on the idea "all my 1.2 improvments" in Tapulous:
Y'know I've been looking for a way to rename Shakes so that it couldn't be confused with vibrate, and I think you've come up with the solution. Arrows. – Chris Clark, on July 28, 2008 05:50

There's a post at Macworld about how to submit your home wifi to the Skyhook database.

Chris Clark replied on July 27, 2008 23:10 to the question "How to Direct Msg on Twinkle?" in Tapulous:
RIght now you can only DM in response to someone -- click their ping, and in the page that follows there's a "Send Private Message" button (or, if you're replying to a direct message of theirs, you can hit the "Reply" button in the top right)
This limitation is being changed in the next version of Twinkle, but for now the rule of thumb is this: if the message bubble is blue, it's a private direct message. If the bubble is yellow or purple, it's public.

You're very, very right. But there are arguments to be made for following convention, too, cliffs aside ;)
In 1.0 we stayed relatively consistent with the Twitter experience (since they're the one third-party service we support right now) but as we push forward into territory Twitter hasn't explored and into services besides Twitter we'll have some interesting problems to solve in our design, and we'll debate them for hours at the whiteboard before we commit to anything. I'm glad you have faith that we're up to the challenge.

You can rest assured that fixing those stability issues was #1 on the list for Twinkle 1.1. – Chris Clark, on July 27, 2008 10:03

I agree it's counterintuitive at first, but reverse-chronological sorting is a strangely-useful convention that started on the net so that the freshest posts would always be at the top, and you would never have to scroll very far to see them. Blogs, news sites, and social networks like Twitter and Facebook use it; as does Twinkle ;)

Those coordinates aren't generated by Twinkle, they've been inserted into the twinklers' Twitter profile by a different app. – Chris Clark, on July 27, 2008 09:03
Chris Clark replied on July 27, 2008 08:57 to the problem "Tap Tap revenge is costing me money!" in Tapulous:
TTR uses the internet to download tracks when you go through the "Download More Tracks" menu, and also for the "red button" menu featuring the latest contests and announcements. Without the internet we can't offer more songs.
If you're roaming, or if your phone carrier is charging you money to download things from the internet, I can only suggest you avoid downloading tracks or go into "Airplane Mode" (in iPhone Settings) to avoid the charges.
