places search, could be noticings search with place context?

"Places" page... seems rather useless. I search for "Austin"... and gobs of places having 0 noticings appear... my home town, having a few noticings from me, is not sorted to the top.

It feels like it should be a search for noticings with places as the context... not places as the principal result with noticing count displayed. Not sure how you'd approach it with the api calls available. But even just bubbling the places having noticings to the top would help?

Brainstorm:
easy to imagine some system based on the existing points structure... you are awarded "community points" per noticing... and are allowed to award them to exceptional noticings of others. Or perhaps even nominate a noticing to receive a deduction (a qualified number of nominations "not a noticing" results in that deduction taking place?)

Maybe it is disqualified completely if enough people agree... perhaps enough qualified deductions to result in a 0 point score?

Such community points would also encourage the browsing of other noticings, not just the posting of your own?

But then, keep it simple is a good mantra too, and important while growing and attracting lots of players.

Understand. Better browsing on mobile with the existing site would be more than fine. I think mostly it's the thumbnail sizes and number of page-views required to check out the daily noticings that bugs me. :-)

Have used Flickr API, am aware of size choice limitations.

Some way to next / last through the weekly and daily noticings would be nice, for browsing gameplay. I find the thumbs not detailed/enticing enough to click each one, but would happily click next many times once viewing a larger photo page.

It also causes small problems on small screens such as the iphone/mobile... because there is no padding otherwise for it to live within (ends up overlapping the thumbnails column). Just gets in the way.

A mobile or iphone version of the site? I find the activity of playing is very suited to the phone as a platform... so makes sense for viewing results too?

I can't tell you how many times I've just replied to a plurk, gone on and finished out the cue... then thought of something to add... and OMIGOD it's so hard to find that plurk again. If I forgot who posted it (and how recently it was posted) I may be completely out of luck until it pops up again in the responed cue.

I'd LOVE a "responded" timeline filter that has the additional option to sort by time that you responded, rather than posted time. Then it would be sitting on the top in this view. How cool would that be!

Quick additional comment. Putting someone who is a non-mutual follower in makes no sense in the present tense, but it would be nice for such a plurk to become visible to them in the future should the relationship become mutual.

I'd like to put people I follow (often mutually) into my cliques too? It seems cliques are restricted to friends only.

Example case. I have an iphone, my non-iphone friends and followers probably hate reading about apps constantly. Am building a clique of fellow iphone/touch owners for such postings. A mutual follower responded positively to be included in future plurkings on the subject, but I can't add her to the clique. :-(

yup yup. SOMETHING along these lines would be awesome... "at time of plurking" vs. "currently listening" both are valid and interesting modes of thinking about it.
