I used to have this problem but mine was a more subtle flicker that became obvious when the brightness was down a bit. I believe ALL macbooks have this same problem, people just keep the brightness all the way up so they don't notice it. Anyways, I think upgrading to Leopard solved it. Apple should replace the software drivers in the earlier versions of OSX. But they won't admit there is a problem so it is unlikely they will address it.

Over time, the problem will get worse. At least mine did. I let it go for a year before I got it fixed because it wasn't that bad. Just before I took it in, it was really bad. New devices come with a 1 year warranty I think. Get it repaired if you can. – Steve, on July 06, 2008 00:09

So far all is good: on my benchmarks: so, slightly faster in raw memory access, but slightly slower in streaming. Overall the same. The only problem I've encountered is that the system reports that the installed RAM as being PC2-3200S-2-6-6 (a non-existent configuration for DDR2 SODIMM RAM) instead of PC2-5300-4-4-4-, so I guess I'm paying a performance penalty of 1/7 (that would be 12/14) in latency. Not an noticeable, and barely measurable, penalty. To come back to Thor's problem, I'll let you all know whether I have any success. You can't prove a negative, but so far - early days - so good. Anyone here remember the underrated capacitors on the original Apple Graphite Airport base stations? outer – outer, on June 26, 2008 04:00

Yup. That's my issue too. MacBook Pro circa Dec 2006. Are then new new MacBooks seeing this issue too? – daemonchild, on June 24, 2008 20:29

Well, I've just put my money where my mouth was and replaced my memory with two 1G PC2-5300 4-4-4-12 modules. We'll see. – outer, on June 24, 2008 20:18
