What about a simple api so that anyone, using any platform can use a web based function to get their usage? ie: browser plugin or phone widget.

A comment on the idea "Watch-Folder = SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT FEATURE" in Songbird:

it doesnt support remote folders!!! if you store your collection on a remote machine then watch folders will not work for you!

i just dont get why these simple things arent implemented... rythmbox has this feature but can get ipod support right

hi, i have been waiting for watch folders forever... now that it has emerged in 1.1 i was very disapointed to see that it can only scan local drives... i understand how it works and that the OS hooks are not available for remote folders... but come on guys... rhythmbox has done this for ages! - it just doesnt work properly with ipods... so we are still stuck between a rock and a hard place.

yes but... we dont know what "watch folders" means... what if it watched a folder and moved its contents to the "main" library renaming the files along the way... done!

playlist m3u import - first entry not found

when i import an m3u playlist, the first entry is not found... all the others are fine. If i go to the library and specifically re-add the file it is fine.

songbird 1.0 - latest
ubuntu intrepid

playlist entries *all* begin with "/M:/Music/<artist>/<album>/<title>.mp3

i use the M: symlink so that windoze machines can access the playlists as well when mapped via samba.

steps to repeat... create an m3u file using itunes exporter. drag m3u into songbird. doubleclick on first entry.

i have removed all the filters ie: listener count, bitrate but the bbc world service station - and a bunch of others just doesnt show up.

It was a "special character" in my message...

...a little difficult to explain...

My message had a carriage return in it. I explicitly checked for that (and removed it) in my send script. This worked when a file was piped from the console but *not* when using the raw standard input "STDIN" from the automated program. make sense?

im not exactly sure *what* the charater was... it wasnt \n or \r...

however I fixed it in my perl script by removing all non-prinable characters like this: (written in perl)

$status =~ s/[^[:print:]]//g;

so, in summary... it all works now... however there seems to be a discrepancy between your web messaging interface and your sms gateway. It seems the web interface deals with the strange characters but the sms gateway does not... might be worth looking into as it might explain a lot more unrecieved sms'es.

fair enough.

as i said i can reproduce this 100% of the time in a small time window. its *highly* unlikely that the network is at fault.

2 (a) is correct, tweet is posted but cnschulz does not recieve the sms.

on one hand, i understand this could be at my end... if i cut and paste the tweet text and send a failed one manually it works fine

but on the other hand, if twitter recieves and posts the tweet then i assume the sms should go as well?

Hi, I understand that this may be a little geeky for some...

I have a twitterbot running on my ubuntu server. I have a shell script that sends a tweet when the machine comes online or when the backup completes... works fine.

I have another program that send output to the console and I funnel that to my shell script. This works fine when i run it manually but when i have this run automatically, no sms is sent to the followers...

i dont get it! the tweet is still sent... i dont understand how the method of sending could have anything to do with the sms being sent or not!

any ideas?

yes i have enough messages in my quota! :)
