Cody replied on November 08, 2009 01:04 to the problem "Comcast Blunders.. 13% packet loss for 2 months. Games Unplayable, Streaming Video Unwatchable" in Comcast:

Im gettign around the same issues, 5 montsh and still having issues, and i stream live video, video games rather and i play wow, only my problem seems to only happen when im streaming, id be playing WoW and the next thign you kno everything is running in place and 5-10 seconds after, i get booted, i grow tired of this, ive had 4 techs come out the last 4 months and all they did was replace a cable leading to my HD TV and said "your signals are fine, 40 bucks please!" thats not exactly what they said but i can tell they said in there mind, i bet there like "this guy is a dimwit doesnt kno anything"' i run 5 monitors, 1 a 20" tv i use for one of my PCs (i work in multimedia) and the other 4 are hook up as Dual Screens, im startign to get ready to swich over to DSL, the 7.1 Turbo plan from Verizon is in my area and i bet its a hell of alot more stable than what comcast has to offer.

To try and prevent this from happening any further ive had to edit my registry, which is RISKY BUSINESS ON ITS OWN and yet i still suffer from 10 - 17% packet loss. these are ping statistics for www.comcast.net:

    Ping statistics for 64.215.158.59:
    Packets: Sent = 1100, Recieved = 1083, Lost = 17 (1% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 17ms, Maximum = 534ms, Average = 22ms

^^^^^ that right there? ^^^^^ thats on a good day.

    Cody
No, i figured out the problem, theres a node some where in your servers thats causing me to lose packets, and guess what you guys are too lazy to even fix it? the company i pay almost 200$ to month doesnt want to fix there own god damn problem??? oh boy i cant wait for fios to roll in my town, im tired of this crappy service getting friggin look at this:

    Ping statistics for 96.17.149.11:
    Packets: Sent = 10938, Recieved = 10914, Lost = 24 (0% Loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 16ms, Maximum 3823ms, Average = 21ms

Now you want to tell me that its my end??? i certainly hope not 1 packet...ONE PACKET is all it takes to kick my net off, 1 packet is all it takes to kick me off world of warcraft, to kick me off my phone, to kick me off my broadcast which is what i use to make living a from, all it takes is 1, ive had numorous techs come out and all theyve told me is "Its your end sir, let us deal with the internet you suck at it" thats basically what there telling me. As soon as FiOS is availiable in my area, you can say goodbye to a customer, im tired of dealing with this, ive lost my patience with you guys

Have had it Comcasts crappy services
For 4 and a half months, I have been repeatedly getting knocked off my entire network for some unknown reason. I have called comcast a grand total of 15 times to get the problem solved, I have emailed them atleast 25 or 30 times regarding the same problem and this is what they have to tell me.

Comcast Rep: What Im going to have you do is turn off your computer, and unplug your modem, and your router, and wait about 60 seconds, then plug your modem on, then your router, then turn your computer on in that order.

Me: Already did that doesnt help.

Comcast Rep: Ok then try to connect directly to the computer by bypass-

Me: Did that too cant even get connected.

Comcast Rep: Ok let me run a diagnostics on your modem

    Me: -_-

Comcast Rep: Your signals are fine sir, there is no outages in your area either.

Me: Then why did I just get kicked off the internet, my modem just completely restarted without no warning.

    Comcast Rep: (no response)

    Me: Hello?

    Comcast Rep: (no response)

Operator: Were sorry, the number you have dialed has been disconnected, please try dialing the number again

YES THE KICK OFF KNOCKS MY PHONES OFF TOO!!!

I make a living on the internet, I stream live video and to do that I need your services to run EFFECIENTLY, not halfassed the disconnects happen at around 9:30 and in some cases 3:00 in the morning, yes im awake at that hour, theres gotta be a like a node in your systems or servers thats causing this problem, because before this we havent any issues with you guys we've been a customer since Adelphia, this is an ongoing problem since July and it hasnt been fixed, Im currently looking into another provider for internet and more or less *gulps* DSL... apparently that service is better than comcast because they can keep a steady connection.

I just want an answer and to see if it can be fixed, if it cant then im done with you guys because your techs that came out did absolutely nothing to resolve this problem, they just replaced a cable connecting to our cable services, that had absolutely nothing to do with our internet problem...

I just got kicked off while typing this very detailed wall of text, all the lights on my modem except for the power went off and completely restarted, again with no warning, i didnt touch anything, Im growing sick of this.

And If i get a response on this chances are your going to run another stupid diagnostics test on my modem, dont. because the diagnostics arent gonna tell you whats going on, yes I know alot about the internet and computers its your servers.

You know, i just got a response yesterday from your comcast department, they said they were gonna schedule a tech visit for today from 8am-11am, guess what the tech supervisor (winks sarcasitcally) doesnt show up...you know, im not blaming the rep at all but if the supervisor decides to not show up to a SCHEDULED appointment, thats not good business, thats actually down right rude to not contact us or reschedule.

    Cody
Getting kicked off my entire network, 3 months unsolved problem
Yeah my familys been a comcast customer since comcast bought out
Adelphia, and its been great up until this year, before i get into my
story im going to tell you that im a broadcaster on justin.tv and i do
use the internet for most reason, mainly this. As for the story, this
all started happening about 2 months ago, I had just built a gaming PC
for broadcasting video games on justin.tv, One of the days i was
broadcasting, my internet goes out, without warning, nothing, i called
customer service at comcast to see if there was any outages, they said
no (figures), so they said it was probably my end, and i agreed with
them, so the next day i got a brand new NETGEAR Router because my first
thought would be a bad router, and i had a linksys router for a while,
had it for about 4 years, so i figured i switch that out, well i did,
guess what. still didnt fix the problem, so i called customer service
again, they told me i have a bad Modem, so i take the modem and get it
swapped out for another o9ne, plug that in all was fixed for like 3 days
then i started getting cut off again.

So after a 3rd call to comcast i asked to send down a technician, he
came the next day very early i might add onyl to tell me that im stupid
and knew nothign about the internet or computers period, i monitor
bandwith evey day i only use about 1MB of bandwith which isnt that much.
so then he proceeded to tell me that this new DOCSIS 3.0 technology is
being added in to where customers get faster connection speeds, i sad
whatever just take my 40 bucks and get out of here. So a month goes by
with constant kick offs and being disconnected from World of Warcraft at
very bad times so i decided to take action myself, i went into the
internet protocol on my computer IPv4 protocol, and set my duplex to
100Mbps FULL Duplex, still had problems, so i called a 4TH TIME asking
what is going on, all i got was useless help of power cycling my modem 5
times, then cycling my router 5 times, then cycling my computer 5 times
WTF? thats some procedure to fix the internet wouldnt you agree?

so after i did all that which i didnt because i thought that was a
stupid procedure at which nothing gets done, about 2 weeks later i go
back to the local offices and swap modems again for the 3rd time, this
time i didnt get a dirty RCA modem that looks like it was thrown up on,
i got a brand new modem right out of the box from Scientific Atlanta, i
plugged it up and it worked fine.....for a day...then i get kicked off
again constantly, and this leads me up to present day, this morning i
went back into the IPv4 protocol and set my duplex to 1.0GB Full Duplex,
i dont know if thats going to help but besides the point, i have 3
    theories:

    #1. NETGEAR Sucks
#2. I need to replace my entire comcast internet line, and spend hours
with them on the phone again as to why im still getting kicked off
#3. There kicking me off deliberately and i need to call a lawyer

Im asking you, someone who cares about the customers, what is going on,
and can it be fixed? if not im goign to look into qwest or AT&T for
    internet services
