The problem is gone and I am not sure but it was maybe caused by browser itself.

No seriously, I unistalled air, restarted PC, installed air, uninstalled twhirl, installed twhirl and problem still preserves.

When I click on url in twhirl it opens local temporary internet file such as: file://localhost/D:/Documents%20and%20Settings/user.name/Local%20Settings/Temporary%20Internet%20Files/Content.IE5/.... This happens also when I click on user name to open his page on twitter.

I think it is good behaviour. You can close browser and continue in work on your task. Meybe your request should be added as option in user settings.
