A comment on the problem "Songbird always tries to access old music directory" in Songbird:
Alright, I've located the file, used notepad to open it and asked it to replace directory names, but it appears there is just too much to replace and the processor just craps out every time. This is with a library of roughly 1600. Is there another program I could use to replace all that would have less issues than notepad?
I'm gonna try setting it up to replace all and then just leave it alone for a couple hours to see if that helps but in the mean time any other suggestions you may have would be great. – Colin, on October 12, 2009 22:17

I have this problem too but my external drive is WD drive made right when they started using this Mionet software (which is terrible). though since I got my drive right when this stuff came out, the drive was built to ONLY use this software and nothing else. It has to be connected to a network or it won't work.
So the Mionet software assigns a directory letter which for the most part is fairly stable (it's L now, but has been K and M before), but a couple times a year it reassigns the letter.
It would be nice to have a feature that lets me edit the location of all the music files at once and tell songbird to "look at this directory instead".-
