Try submitting the bug to Twitter support just as a reminder to them. They've been having a lot of issues lately and have probably overlooked this issue as it doesn't effect the majority of their users (most users don't use the website as much as API clients).

After I deleted a lot of (spam) followers, to leave just one, legitimate follower, it still says I have two followers, but just shows the one I wanted...

UPDATE:
I've seen that this has been reported already and replied to by a member of Twitter staff. They said it is a bug they are working on. SIX months ago. Were they lying or is this a superbug more resistant than MRSA???
