warpete - while it is possible to replace the Hard drive in the box, the firmware determines the size. Moto 6408 = 80 GB, 6412 = 120 GB 61416 = 160 GB. If you were to open up a 6416 and replace the 160 GB drive with a 500 GB dirve, the firmware on the box will format one partition to 160 GB and leave the rest alone. Besides the fact that you shouldn't be opening your cablebox anyways, this really won't change things for you. Your best bet at this time is to use a HTPC, like you mentioned.
