The main site isn't optimized to work on mobile devices. You can go to m.brightkite.com and use the mobile-specific site to do most things, although it's currently in early alpha testing and may have bugs.

Unfortunately you can't currently do a checkin and post with the same message. You need to check in with one message first, then post a note with a second.

Yeah, it's apparently a problem with Twitter not escaping JSON properly. So certain tweets break things and cause our system to break in turn.

We have the concept of posting "about" a place as well as "at" one, so you can post notes or photos to a place without necessarily being there. Say you want to post a good vacation photo for a place you went last year or you remember that a restaurant has a really good burger but aren't there at the moment. Posting "about" a place also won't send out notifications to your friends.

The system will search near your last known location for a business search (? command) but currently not for checkins. We'll see about doing this as well.

I've added autocomplete="off" to those fields which should fix the problem (will be on the live site later today). The plaintext password issue will be fixed soon as well.
