Yes, you're right. I'm sorry. I was just trying to find a workaround to make Thunderbird useful. – norbiq, on July 25, 2008 15:19

It's still a desktop application, he said web access, not thumbdrive access. – Thomas, on July 25, 2008 15:04

Thunderbird is like Outlook or Eudora in that it is a mail client. It sits on your desktop. I'm recommending an alternative, you can use Gmail's mail fetcher to fetch mail from other services (I think you have to pay to access hotmail over POP though, but AIM is free over IMAP) and bring it into your Gmail. It is using gmail as a web mail client, but Thunderbird sits on your desktop. I wanted to help with your issue. However, you can indeed use Thunderbird as your desktop client to check your gmail as well as just check gmail (and other items) on the go, but they are two different products. – Thomas, on July 24, 2008 05:10

Yup that pretty much answers it. Somehow last night I thought of that option and then talked myself out of it LOL. Overthinking! – Dylan, on July 08, 2008 19:22

You can go into the settings on Brightkite and uncheck "When I post a note," but leave "When I post a photo" checked.
Next, enable both brightkite and twitter within ping.fm. This way, when you post from Ping.fm it will repost a note on brightkite and on twitter, but brightkite won't relay it over to twitter causing an echo.
Then whenever you want to post a photo, just do it through brightkite and it will relay the photo to twitter.
I hope that's not too confusing, but it's what I did, and it works fine!
Dylan asked a question in Ping.fm on July 08, 2008 02:47:
Duplicates with twitter and brightkiteSo I sent out my first ping and got the duplicate on twitter from brightkite. Here is my question. I want Brightkite to still update twiiter with pic and location updates but I would like to use ping.fm for microblog updates on them both. As far as I can tell I only have these options.
1. Turn off Brightkite Twitter connection and loose ability to have photo and location updates sending to Twitter.
2. Turn off Brightkite updates on ping.fm and be able to microblog to twitter but not brightkite at same time. But have ablity to do photo and location updates from Bkite going over to Twitter.
Hope this makes sense! I'm trying to to figure this one out!
Thanx in advance for any help.
- Dylan
