Hi.......I had the same problem with my battery, which I never noticed until I had to use it. Even though It was outside the warranty Dell sent a technician first and then replaced the battery for free. I had to keep repeating that "I would like to speak to your manager" (three or four times with three or four different individuals). Finally I reached someone at the Escalation Department (sic) Integrity department might make for a better image. We set up an appointment for them to call me and they were late so I missed it. One of my co workers said they were a bit huffy that I didn't wait around for them to call. However they finally pulled through. The battery has a one year warranty so if you are within that there should be no problem. If you are outside of the warranty and you think you have a case just be truthful, respectful and persistent.

Concerned asked a question in Dell on June 19, 2008 01:33:
Defective Dell BatteryThe Battery died on my Dell xps m1210. I have used the battery function less than six hours since I purchased the lap top. I am told that I have to buy a new battery for over three hundred dollars.
I am six months past the warranty however it is clear that I received a defective battery and the cost of replacing that defective battery is being downloaded onto me. Dell makes a good product and has a good reputation for reliability so I am very surprised that they don't see the obvious. What should I do please?-
