If and only IF, you add ping.fm support to twhirl, make posting to it a separate PING-POST button in the UI, on all of the configured profiles. That way I can post to the community I'm following, or pushing it to all that I have configured on ping.
If you don't add it, I open a browser window and keep doing it old skool.
Lowering the barrier to ping.fm posting, may not be a good thing for ublogging in general...
Love twhirl, repeat LOVE twhirl!

by getting more people to agree with this http://getsatisfaction.com/seesmic/to...
then Ping.fm support will get up higher in the wish list of Twhirl meaning we will have True cross posting sooner

They're commenting about supporting twurl.nl as a URL-shortening service, actually. – Voyagerfan5761, on September 27, 2008 02:04

Even more people are commenting over on the Ping.fm satisfaction page about integration with Twhirl, I told them to come here but it might be even more helpful to look at their interest too http://getsatisfaction.com/pingfm/top...

I understand where everyone is coming from on this process. My thoughts are these:
Yes, if I could pay even up to like $10 ~$15 for a product that would connect to Ping.fm from something like Adobe Air and allow me to post using a character count (and really, that's ALL it needs to be) I'd be happy. If there were more bells and whistles, sure... but it doesn't need to have more (for me).
But Twhirl is not a paid service, it's free, and so we have to treat it as such - same as you would respect someone who *gives* you something... you don't often place more demands (not requests, demands) back upon them in return.
While, yes, this feels like something super-easy to implement (to me) and makes me slightly scratch my head going "really? it's still not implemented yet?" I also accept that Twhirl is free and therein I can't demand or require as much from it (if anything). All I can do is nicely request and make my voice heard.
At the same time, if I find a product that will allow me to do similar functions to Twhirl and is $10 ~ $15 AND posts to ping.fm ... I'd likely switch in a heartbeat and Twhirl would lose a diehard customer that promotes them every chance I can get.
It's just an honest part of the world about this situation. One I respect and admire, while also treating with honestly for both myself and the product I use and adore. – Shivian Balaris, on September 22, 2008 04:11

Hey Ro11z, no worries, no offense taken. =) We just have to prioritize features right now. Everyone's comments and suggestions help in that process. The best thing you can do to affect the priority of a feature is to be sure and encourage anyone else you know who is interested in the feature to come here and click on "I like this idea". – Thomas Knoll, on September 22, 2008 04:04

hey ild be willing and happy to pay for a client that gives me ease of use with all the services out there. so bringing the (its free) augument dont wash with me. its just they to remember ease of use more than fuctionality.
just look @ the iphone to see what i mean
dont mean any offence – Ro11z, on September 22, 2008 03:15

Ro11z, while I appreciate your passion for this feature, I have to agree with Randy, that the demanding attitude is not inspirational. That said, we will not spite you... we simply have to weigh new features against all the other requests, and our internal roadmap. Sorry that we haven't been able to add this one quick enough. – Thomas Knoll, on September 22, 2008 01:01

Twhirl is a free application. I happen to consider it one the best examples of an AIR cross-platform application to have yet be written and released (it's the only app that gives me a *truly* consistent interface across Linux, Mac OSX and Windows-- even Java apps like Eclipse, or Firefox/Thunderbird have noticeable differences on Mac OSX). But it is free, and we all benefit from that. This kind of demanding attitude doesn't inspire the developers to help you, I promise. As a developer of free software myself, I would be more likely to delay any feature you request with such a tone of voice just out of spite. – Randy J. Ray, on September 21, 2008 23:41

it realy is annoying that we STILL dont have Ping.fm support for saying Twhirl is not cross-platform. the moment they started playing with friendfeed and identi.ca they should have added Ping.fm for ease of use for the customers
i HATE having to repeat myself
i HATE having to repeat myself
Add Ping.fm already
