OK. Let me rephrase my reply.
It would be more appropriate to report your finding by praising Spotify, rather than asking a question. This saves people like me who answer other peoples' questions from having to sift through questions that are actually questions or not. – Connor, on August 28, 2009 15:20

Good idea. But your Bold HTML didn't work. :-) – Connor, on August 28, 2009 10:25

Because I'm on Sky. They don't do it. They only do it when their servers are at breaking point which hasn't happened yet since Sky started.
Plus if you get their Max package (which I have) you get 16 meg Broadband and a Wireless router (although the routers rubbish) and truly unlimited downloads without a fair usage policy.
For a tenner a month. :-D – Connor, on August 28, 2009 10:23

Well a user of Eclipse internet has put a review online (http://www.reviewcentre.com/review219...) saying traffic is shaped constantly.
Even though you say this isn't the problem, it is the most likely cause. You have several computers you have tried Spotify on. You have a normal NetGear router. Spotify works fine in the morning. Your ISP is to blame.
Remember, ISP's do single out certain applications. For example, if uTorrent is on the ISP's 'High Bandwidth' list, which it often is, it will be restricted more often.
My advice, although probably not as helpful as you hoped, is to wait for your Eclipse Internet contract to end and get Sky Broadband - if you can. :-D

The reason for this is Spotify 'Pre Loads' tracks if you like.
I.e. the tracks in your play queue are cached to minimise buffering delay.
When an ad plays, a random ad is picked from Spotify's ad pool. These require on-the-spot loading as they haven't been pre loaded, resulting in stop-start service. – Connor, on August 28, 2009 08:47

Apple said that Spotify will be on the App Store very soon, which judging from the time it took to approve Spotify is about a year from now. ;-P – Connor, on August 28, 2009 07:28

I didn't mean that, what I meant was now that two credible sources are reporting it, it isn't just a rumour. :-) – Connor, on August 27, 2009 19:39

Apple say in their App Store policy that anything deemed as potentially competitive with any of Apple's products or services will not be allowed on the App Store.
But I thought there was a law regarding anti-competition that made this illegal? Supermarkets get sued for anti-competition all the time. – Connor, on August 27, 2009 11:30

So far today I have had 4 ads. I have listened for about 3 hours. You're making up how many ads you get.
I have never got 2 ads every 3-4 songs. I doubt I ever will.
I don't really know why I'm not just typing a load of swear words right now after what you said to me.
It's probably because I feel sorry for you... you clearly need a brain transplant. – Connor, on August 23, 2009 15:48
A comment on the idea "Less adverts and half premium cost" in Spotify:
If you count how many adverts you get for a certain amount of songs, you should find it consistant. I did a few weeks ago. I login, get 17 tracks and then an advert (Yes 17!), then 6 tracks and an advert, then 7 tracks and 2 adverts, then 6 etc. etc. – Connor, on August 23, 2009 08:52
