A comment on the idea "Able to play videos without leaving your desktop?" in BumpTop:

I think this is a little exaggerated, I've used compiz and compiz-fusion on a single core P4 2.6ghz comp. It was extremely laggy while moving windows and switching to the 3D cube, as for playing HD movies, im assuming you mean 1280x720 or higher? If so, a single core can't possibly play HD videos with compiz in use. It might be a different story if your talking about DivX or XviD videos, but not H.264 video its way too CPU intensive. Unless you had a graphics card good enough to offload the usage of compiz. – CorruptNova, on November 05, 2008 20:51

The only problem with this idea is that it will be VERY CPU intensive and they would need to develop a new media player to work, unless they made an extension that makes it possible to use another media player like, WMP, Media Player Classic or ZoomPlayer.

The 3rd idea I kinda get, I think he/she is talking about multiple desktops or different shaped desktops which I also agree on, kinda like what Linux distros have. There is a infinite desktop option where you can have a unlimited amount of desktop space but, it looks kinda bland :/

Adding on to my list....
Having animated gif images play while on the desktop or hung on the wall.
This should be a selectable option

This isn't really an idea, more of a problem but... when you set a background to a portrait of someone, it can become aliased (check my before and after shot). Just wondering if there could be a fix for it.

Maybe that file cabinets could be interactive, say you want to order stuff but instead of piles, use the filing cabinet to file the icons, folders, whatever away

And also add the feature to name each filing cabinet

Another idea is to let the community make widgets for BumpTop, sorta how Mozilla lets their community build and release add-ons and wdgets for thier browser

Maybe a throwable analog/digital clock and the option to cover the taskbar while using bumptop and add the feature to browse your entire computer from bumptop itself. Basically like a Explorer replacement
