well the simple solution is to make this a true prediction site..predictions must be made b4 there is any possible final answer..while some in game sports and stuff may be fun it may turn out to b more fun if everybody knows there is an equal chance for everyone at all times and if they really are good at predicting events they will have a chance to move up even if they cant stay on their computers all day

trading the dow can still b a short term prediction but it would b a prediction b4 the likely result is known and everyone would have an equal opportunity to make money on it..as it stand now most u.s. people work during the stock hours and are not able to access the dow constantly through the day and incur full losses while people who have access can take less of a loss by cashing out..that adds up..many sports are in the evening especially the big games and therefore more people have access to them equally..betting on the dow when it is up 200 points doesnt seem very challenging and even if u lose one of those once in a while overall u will come out way ahead..i dont really bet the dow but this is how i c it

what ru talking about..it should close hours b4 like everything else..i only stated that the arguments given that are part of the reason it is still here plus i play very little stox..i always said it should close early like everything else..of course people who r able to stay on and bet stox all day have an advantage..even if u make a little per day it is a sure thing at some point on most days.but these r and always have been the rules and as long as nobody is cheating there is nothing anybody can do..its not the players fault

this has been discussed b4 and the status has not changed.overall people who have more time to sepnd on the site will do better than those who dont bcause they have time to buy, sell etc...as others have brought up it is like keeping a baseball game running till 2 outs in the ninth but the stox r the quickest and easiest way to make dollars and it always has been
A comment on the problem "A Hubdub representative (super user Mork) not being a good role model for Hubdub?" in Hubdub:
wow.havent seen a thread like this in a while..superuser or not this is for fake money so i have never understood y things get so personal..so many questions get settled both ways and this is one of the reasons y..some1 protecting their interests making enough of an argument to create a 2 way settlement...i had no money on this but if there was a specific amount stated and that specific amount wasnt paid y was a yes settlement used..from what i gather it was some kind of conversion thing but to me thats like asking will big brown win by 5 lengths but he wins by 4 and we say yes because its the spirit of the question or it wasnt converted to metric for other countries but thats just my opinion..regardless there will be problems with superusers because people will suspect users who can do things others cant but from what ive seen they look like they r trying..and the site does need more eyes..5-10 admin for 7000 some odd people in different time zones is too much i think without help – crudsy, on June 05, 2008 03:21

well i joined when i read an article about it..i thought id be done right away with only 1,000 bux and i actually think the fact there were less questions then helped me cause i probably would have tried to win everything..the sports then consisted of whether the buffalo sabres hockey team would win cause there was only basically one person writing them daily until i started doing 2-3 a day in nhl, nba, and college bball..now the sports questions are unbelievable..great job guys..some of them really should be put in vegas but the wild west days were fun and simple..i think now there are so many questions and so many possilbe interpertations that i notice early settlements, early voids etc...the site needs to grow but i hope it isnt getting bigger than they can handle...as is said b4 some of the threads then were great entertainment with some of the og's (original gangstas) involved

haha..u must be new here..i havent heard this issue since the fun wild west days...i have cut down my participation alot because there is way too much leeway in the settling and interpertation of questions and having to be a lawyer to figure out some stuff..it is also too ez still to have one person who is losing find a way to influence a settlement..it is just more work than fun than it was but i do enjoy the site just pretty much only wagering on sports due to the instability of questions which may not be simple yes or nos and can be actually settled as both..i only have one account and dont know who orlin is but thats ur choice to strike..lord knows we have had that b4..u should if u can go back to the threads..alot of them r more fun than predicting right destry?..:)

once again inconsitency..then y cant we apply the same argument for the merger of airlines or other areas..settle then resettle..either things are settled too quickly or too slowly or voided after many wagers or left open because of so many wagers...i am not even bothering with these types of questions anymore..for me to research every nook and cranny of how a questions will get setlled isnt worth it..this is for fake money and should be more fun than work not vice versa and this far down the line the problems remain..i personally think and have said from the beginning that questions should be solved in an easier manner than they are now..what is the harm in settling a question based on an announcement?..is it so horrible?..wouldnt it make the site more fun and easier to manage since everyone will know the rules and there wont be as much back and forth on every question?..but others have different opinions but this is going down the road of becoming very much more a sports site i think because people as ive said b4 are going to get tired of tying up their money in markets that can get voided after time, settled too soon, or just interperted in a new way or a different way then they thought and is just not worth the headache to analyze..i keep preaching simplicity but maybe i have a different idea of what that is

99.9..what does that mean?..if there is one group out of all the groups involvd in this deal not agreeing to it does that mean 99.9 are?..are we saying that less than 99.9 of these mergers get done?..once again 99.9 means something different to everybody...to me settling the swayze question didnt make sense days b4 but it did to somebody who thought that was 99.9 despite a fast moving cancer type and a situation where any info released could have been misleading..i dont know but i would have thought we had a way of answering this by now i guess
crudsy replied on April 15, 2008 02:36 to the problem "Delta and NWA merger settlement" in Hubdub:
if the boards and the companies are announcing the merger what more guarantees do we want?..what if there is a merger and then somebody sues like the shareholders or something?..the merger of a company could always have something come up...not only in this case but others..if they said we are merging in may then i would say no i guess if we are spitzering (is that what we established?)..these questions continue to cause problems because there is always a "what if" attacthed..we cant plan for every contingency and this is the type of thing taking away the fun and the purpose of this i think..it should be a fun game with common sense settlements and if something changes then settlements can change..whatever the ruling is as i said b4 whoever the rep is just decide what u think is best asap and lets move on with a way for these things to be settled without relying totally on the question creator because if they are new they may not undestand all these specifics we r asking for in the details..with 5,000 users there are bound to be different versions of common sense which is y the establishment of a protocal is important but we seem to be working on learning from past episodes and working on eliminating or at least cutting down on repeating them..i hope..)

the problem with spitzer was he announced his resig but said it was official on the monday..if they announce it then it should go through but if they say it is going through pending the approval of the pilot situation then it should not until the pilots approve..if mergers announcements arent going to be enough to settle these then people wont bet on them because now we are saying mergers are announced but may never be actually done or they shouldnt bother putting suspend dates...this is just my opinion but i think these should be settled unless there is a stipulation attatched and then that stipulation would have to be met for settlement..if there is not a mention of the need for pilot approval then they are proceeding anyway..whatever the outcome i hope it is resolved quickly and doesn't linger and will be consistently applied across the board
crudsy replied on April 11, 2008 23:12 to the discussion "(Almost) duplicate markets" in Hubdub:
i think if a market isnt something like the clinton example it should be ok..if the people who understand the market feel its ok then i would go by their thoughts since i know nothing about the stock market..there is already so much overanalysis and thinking on questions and answers as it is i wouldnt want people to be discouraged from creating questions because they think it might get voided which may be a reason u c so many sports questions..and i havent even done any in a while..:)..but after the ebay auction question (my personal favorite) and spitzer i think many are gunshy to-a-create certain questions and b-tie up their money in markets where they may get something at a great price early..have it go up at a nice profit..then have the question suspended..then have it voided..not only do they not have a chance to cash out their profit but their money was tied up not only in the original market but the whole time a decision was being made..sports are ez to find definite answers to and dont tie up ur money long term..of course there are many ways to do sports questions as was stated above but u can even find out if the fourth pitch was a foul ball..the sports questions have really gotten plentiful which is fun for some but not others and i guess some of them can be seen as not news but they r predictions just the same..i like sports but i really enjoy the other types of questions on this site and im hoping as the kinks get worked out in terms of more common sense settlements and more understanding of what will and wont get a question voided people will feel more confident that if they create a question it will stand up if reasonable and a settlement will be reached close to after the settlement date...also hoping there is more consistency across category people because i get the sense each one suspends, settles, unsuspends in different ways..just my thoughts

what i dont understand is if he was given a 50 percent fine the first or second time how come there is even a proposal for a lesser fine for the third offense?..i vote for banning because this is his third offense..if it was only his second as i and others thought i would have voted for going down to 1,000..i have spent as much time on this as im going to..if the proposal is banning after third time and hes on his third it should be banning
