Clint Shryock replied on February 13, 2009 17:17 to the question "Hey, any idea what's going on in this picture?" in Bit Maki Software:
strange. I'm not running rails or anything. my normal apache instance is in /opt/local (using macports)
I switched to "all processes" (see attached) and didn't see any other instances of httpd running.
Originally the machine was running really slow b/c I was using VMWare at the time. Typically quitting VMWare the machine returns to normal, but although it improved it didn't fully recover. thats why I checked the activity monitor.
I guess if real memory is what matters (not sure, you imply it's more important) then this isn't a problem really. The machine is responding normally, just seems memory is higher than normal. I'll keep my eye on it, again, doesn't seem to be a problem, just caught me by surprise.
Thanks!

Deleting a feedcast does not delete episodesWhen I remove a feedcast I get a dialog to confirm the deletion, which says "Are you sure you want to delete? This operation will delete all episodes and cannot be undone". Confirming that, the feedcast goes away but nothing is deleted from iTunes. If I refresh my podcast list I get the "!" marker saying the source can't be found for that podcast group, but any podcasts I had in that group are still there, even the grey outline for the ones I didn't get. They all play too...

unexpected behavior when clicking "Open in iTunes" after manual deletion of podcast in iTunesI'm running a 3 year old laptop with limited space available so I frequently prune the hard drive for space, specifically my iTunes movies and podcasts.
I created a feedcast, then sync'd to iTunes.
In Textcast, if I select the feed and click "Open in iTunes", iTunes becomes the front app and shows me the podcast tree, as expected.
In Textcast, if I select on a single podcast and click "Open in iTunes", iTunes becomes the front app and shows me the selected podcast, as expected.
I then deleted the top level of the feed in iTunes (deleting all, not just a single one).
If I selected the feed in Textcast and click "Open in iTunes", iTunes takes over and the feed is regenerated. This is awesome and what I was hoping would happen.
However, if I delete the top level in iTunes and then back in Textcast select a single podcast and click "Open in iTunes" nothing happens.
I was expecting it to regenerate the podcast tree in iTunes and select the specific podcast.
The picture attached illustrates what I mean by "top level" and "podcast tree" since I may not be clear

"Open in iTunes" only works if iTunes is already openWhen iTunes is not running and I click "sync to iTunes", it attempts to launch iTunes for me. If iTunes is not running and I click "Open in iTunes" I get a dialog that says iTunes is unresponsive. I would probably be OK with this normally but the message says to make sure no iTunes preference windows or dialog windows are open, which to me indicates thinks iTunes is running but not responding because it's blocked by a modal or something, instead iTunes simply isn't running.
Clint Shryock reported a problem in Bit Maki Software on December 30, 2008 14:16:
Textcast hangs on opening iTunesIf iTunes is not already running, hitting "sync to iTunes" brings up the modal dialog that says "iTunes is not running...Lanuching iTunes...".
iTunes then launches in the background (but does not come forward, if that makes sense) and Textcast just keeps spinning saying it's launching iTunes.
I can click on iTunes on the dock and bring it forward, everything is working as expected, Textcast is just stuck launching it.
the only way to get out of this is to force-quit the app.
I'm on a powerbook, 1.67 GHz ppc G4, 1.5gb ram, leopard 10.5.6
ctshryock shared an idea in Second Gear on November 19, 2008 20:49:
Task AlarmsAlarms only make sense for tasks in limited context. With Today 1.5 a time for a task defaults to 12:00am, so setting the alarm for any of the default time increments will trigger an alarm somewhere between 10pm - 11:55pm the day before (or 2 days before).
Ultimately I think that if a specific time (1pm, 2pm, 9:43am) is not possible for an task then an alarm isn't appropriate; if you can't control the time of the task the timing of the alarm is difficult.
I would love to be able to set the time of the task and then set the specifics of the alarm a la ical, setting x minutes/hours/days before.
Early beta's of 1.5 had this but the alarm time setting was a bit off. Somewhere between 1.5RC1 and 1.5 release the setting of the time for an task was removed completely, handicapping the setting of the alarm time.

Sorry for the confusion, the above post of mine involves "tasks" only. I mistakenly used the term "events" occasionally.
I tested events and found better results, but still some mishaps.
5 min before through 1 hr before work as expected.
1 day before and 2 days before both create alarms for 1 day after, 2 days after respectively
ctshryock replied on November 13, 2008 13:56 to the update "Today 1.5 Beta 2" in Second Gear:
I noticed a bug when creating tasks with alarms, being that my alarm was never going off when I expected it to. I took a look on iCal and the events created by Today (1.5 RC1) had alarms set to go off "the day before" and at the wrong time.
reproduce:
1) create a new event
2) assign set to 1pm 'today' (11/13/08)
3) set alarm for '5 minutes before' ('at that time' would be a great addition)
4) save
check ical, you'll see the alarm is set to go off at 11:55pm 'the day before' today (11/12/08).
This is constantly repeatable for all alarm settings. the following is what I got when I created an alarm for each increment, all of which had the event at 1pm 'today' (11/13/08).
15 minutes before gets you 'the day before' (TDB) @ 11:45 pm
30 mintes gets you TDB @ 11:30 pm
...
so on until you set to '1 day before', which gets you
12:00am the day after (11/14/08)
and '2 days before'
12:00am two days after (11/15/08)
I also tested with events one week a head (11/20/08) and got consistent results, an event on 11/20/08 with alarm programed to go off two days before was set to go off on 11/22/08
