Plus this would allow better synchronisation with Evolution contacts/calendar (maybe other software too?) I copied all my local contacts into a Google address book but found the birthdays weren't kept, so I have to maintain three separate address books (one Google one, accessible on both of my computers, and a local one on each).
Cubist Castle marked one of chris jones' replies in Google as useful. chris jones replied to the idea "Birthday reminders for Gmail contacts". Cubist Castle and 4 other people think it's one of the best replies.

Cubist Castle replied on December 03, 2008 10:31 to the idea "Last.fm-like multiple tag system" in Songbird:
Both foobar2000 and Quod Libet are able to handle this in such a way that files tagged in one show sensibly in the other. Maybe it's worth looking at the Quod Libet (or Ex Falso) source code?
Files I've tagged with more than one genre using fb2k or QL currently show in Songbird under a separate genre made up of both/all of them with a space between (for example Industrial Punk, or Jazz Cover Various). The same goes for artists.
Anyway I'm glad this is under consideration at least!-
