I wasn't really referring to snitter or 3rd party support.

For example, instead of going to the ping.fm home page, what if a user went to twitter, and instead of doing a normal tweet, which only gets published in twitter, the user sent a direct message to ping. Then ping rebroadcasts the text to all the user's sites, including twitter.

This is something snitter would have to implement. We do allow 3rd party sites and applications to send messages through our website. Send them a message telling them about how awesome ping.fm is. Be sure to give them a beta code because they'll have to sign up to get a developer key.

Right now I send to Ping via my GTalk channel in Meebo, via the Meebo desktop client Meebone. But I review Twitter updates in Snitter. If I could send a direct message to Ping within Snitter (or any other Twitter client) I wouldn't have to have two desktop clients running.

I use them for 2 different things. I use Jott mainly to communicate. Jott to myself, Jott to my roommate, or co-worker. Sandy is much better organized, I believe, with everything from a calendar to an address book.

Besides, it is much more fun to ask my boss who his personal assistant is!

Off the top of my head:
- generic notes
- RSS feeds of your items
- ics files for import into Outlook, mail, etc
- aforementioned better interface
- ability to lookup

Yes, you can Jott to Sandy. But you can set reminders/todos/appts in Jott, why do it in Sandy? (Other than the interface is a heck of a lot friendlier!)
