    iCal Problems
I'm having two problems with iCal on OS X Leopard.

    1) Subscribing works but refresh says authentication failed.

I can subscribe to my calendar OK (See 2 below) but if I refresh the calendar, I get the exclamation point of death and it says authentication failed. If I delete the subscription and re-add it, it again subscribes fine but can't be refreshed.

    2) Not everything shows up in my calendar.

When I subscribe to my calendar, some of my repeating items do not show up after the first occurrence and none of my todos show up even though I told iCal not to remove task, reminders, or attachments.

This makes me anxious because I can't rely on a system if I know it's dropping stuff. :\

    Sharing tags?
I'd like Sandy to be able to deal with certain tags from trusted friends. Let me explain what prompted this.

I could send a message to Sandy that says, "Remember Eggs @shopping @groceries" and then Twitter Sandy "d s l @groceries" and Sandy would send me all of my grocery shopping list.

Here's what I would also like. If my wife has sent Sandy things for @groceries, I'd like Sandy to say, "Here are items tagged @groceries from your contacts as well." Of course, there would need to be ways of configuring who your trusted contacts are and what tags they should have access to, but I think this could be a really powerful way for families and partners to collaborate and share information.

    Transparent "Other Profiles" icons, please!
I'd like the "Other Profiles" icons to be transparent png's. The white background ones are harshing my custom theme. :)

    Jamie Phelps
Yeah, I thought of that myself and set it up. I guess it should be an option - I doubt someone like @gruber wants to see everytime he's mentioned. Or maybe he does. Who knows? :) I still think this would be a great feature for Twitter proper, but I'll live with tracking for now.

FWIW, `track @username` removes the @ so you end up tracking `username`. This isn't bad for someone like me (@jxpx777) but it could be problematic for people using a common name as a username. So, `track @john` will alert @john every time the name John is mentioned. Prolly not what @john wants.

    Change replies to "mentions"
I'd like to see the @ list include when I'm mentioned and not just when I'm @'d at the beginning of a tweet.

The most basic justification for this would be if a tweet is @ more than one person: @joe @jane Wanna get together for coffee tonight?

The second reason is that sometimes people talk about you with @username, i.e. Have you seen @dacort's Twitter stats script? It's awesome! I'm sure Damon would like to know someone mentioned him in a Tweet but unless he follows that person, he won't know.

So, those are my suggestions for extending the concept of @replies to include @mentions.

Signal to noise ratio: or Profile display posts per day: or join date
OK, lemme explain. I follow a fair number of people and I try to read all of the posts. When I'm looking at someone's profile before I follow, I think about the level of cruft they'll add to my twitteroll.

So, I'd like to see some sort of statistic that attempts to measure the volume of posts I can expect from a particular user. I know "signal" and "noise" are subjective terms, but perhaps a simple ratio of posts per day would be less controversial?

And, while we're at it, let's include a statistic that tells how much of the traffic for a particular user is not from them actually typing in a tweet, i.e. from Twitterfeed or similar.

    Jamie Phelps
I agree. This needs to be toggleable. I hate getting those instructions every time. It's like, "Yeah, I effin' know! I've been using Twitter for almost a year!"

    Jamie Phelps
Or, get your RSS feed URL and then put it into an RSS sidebar widget. I'm doing something similar with my NetNewsWire/Newsgator clippings. HTH.

Please don't send me an empty Daily Digest
If I don't have anything going on, please don't send me an email saying so. I'd like to be able to see emails from Sandy and have that trigger some urgency in my mind, which won't work effectively if I get empty digest emails.

TwitterIM is unreliable delivering new tweets
I wanted to use Twitter over IM at work. I turned on IM. I got a few tweets. Then it went quiet. I loaded twitter.com/home in my browser and there was a whole list of tweets there that hadn't come through to my IM.

At first I thought the delay was some sort of punishment for running over 140 chars in an update. But then I got two tweets in a row from one followee but a check of twitter.com/home shows about five more that didn't come through.

I'd just like to be able to use the IM channel more reliably. Having to have twitter.com/home open to see what I'm missing defeats the purpose.
