thanks that's a very good write up on the problem. I agree it probably is heat related. I might try a fan to cool the mini.

I have a that same one except 1G of ram. I would recommend this amount of memory. I've had it since 2005. Also, I would get the DVD write capablity which I have. I think it's called super drive. It can get a little slow (spinning ball) with a few apps running. Seems adobe reader sucks up a lot resource. One complaint is the wi-fi - never worked very well and now it's broke. I posted that problem up here but no replies yet. hope this helps

anyone else with a Wi-fi problem on a mac mini? Always had some problems with signal strength and keeping the link. The mac mini was purchased in 2005. Months ago it would only work for about 5 minutes and then just drop out completely. If the unit cooled down (hour or more) it might work again for a short while. I gave up and now use a connected PC (ugh) for the Wi-fi link. The PC wifi link can say up all day in the same room as the mini. Another laptop further away gets a good connection.
