1-month trial should be automatically terminated if not renewedOn April 23, the last day of my starter plan 1-month trial, I made a request to cancel my network. SocialGo is sleeping on it, with the intention of charging me for 1 more montht. Networks under 1-month trial should be automatically removed or downgraded to "free". If not it indicates a trap. What would happen in the even of communication gaps (intentional at your end) or errors?
A comment on the question "how can i add IM and chat box into my site? or it is already there? how can i find it?" in SocialGO:
sorry, tom, a while ago i had requested 'support' to cancel my network. This is the last day of the 1-month trial period. I fear that the delay in processing ticktes will cause me a bill for another 1 month. In one page i read you are the contact person for cancelling an account. I thought I could cancel it from my site itself. I feel you must have an option for "downgrading" (from premium to free) :) – daisy wheel, on April 23, 2009 19:14

Jaikumar, the best place to get help is here. Mention your site URL too when you report an issue. in case someone wants to take a look at it. – daisy wheel, on April 16, 2009 17:14

an IM is an IM only if the friend at the receiving end is online.
Social Go does have a Private Messaging system and it works well.
Click 'Members' or "My Friends" (depending on whom you want),
Click the person's profile, and click "Send Message".
As for "Chat", it was not working when I tested last.
Make friends, ask one of them to be online when you are online,
and test whether it works now. Chances are that it won't.

Social-Go will never suite any project. It's only good for people who dont have a domain and hosting service and won't mind suffering a google adsense that gives you a profit. In fact, that's your future. Joomla, the most popular CMS package, has now a free social network component. Wordpress has Buddypress to make an incredibly good free social network (social go is not even 50% of it). I can predict your doom. You will be nowhere in 5 years unless you change your pricing.
And as a parting advice. Your blogs-magazine is a muddle-headed idea, all mixed up. My sincere suggestion. Make the two seperate, and then you can use Magazine as a value-added content session.
You have only two options for survival. 1. Just stick to FREE sites. 2. Offer a Social-Go hosting with no no add/logo and full access to one's own file manager for a price less than $8, with a reasonable 10gb storage and 10gb bandwidth. Otherwise Social Go is finished. I hope you grow up enough to realize the market and the miraculous growth of the Open Source revolution. – daisy wheel, on April 16, 2009 07:21

Hello, Dokun,
Read the entire correspondence attentively before cutting in on to it.
I am not using a free site, I am using a paid-for site.
I am from this planet and have seen a lot of it.
And that especially includes social netwroks of all sorts.
If you do a bit of searching, you will find that I have posted suggestions for improving SocialGo as well. These were not only well-accepted but also immediately implemented by SocialGo.
However, good suggestions won't get immediate acceptance when it comes to money -- instant returns -- but its consequence is certain to crop up somewhere along the line in the long run.
What I call the "Advantage SocialGo" (the USP, in marketing language) is in the fact that you don't need a hosting service to use it. That's where SocialGo scores off, when at least half a dozen Social Network softwares (with the same or better facilities) are available freely on the market. You must buy a domain and hosting service to use them, and must know your way around creating/assigining databases like MySql.
But the producers of some of these free softwares have already made arrangements with hosting services. One-click installation is already available. Application hosting is one of the options at many hosting centers. That is, they offer you a plan to run one specific Social Network (such as Elgg, one of the best in the industry).
This trend is gathering momentum and soon will be the order of the day. And where would "SocialGo" be then, unless they make some intelligent proactive moves!
P.S. By the way, I am opening a blog to discuss such topics at my new site.

"I hope you do see value in what we offer."
Well, I Don't. On the other hand you must thank starter plan users
for the service they are doing to you.
In my first letter I described the white lable imposition only as "unfair"
Well, It's done with my knowledge?
But the inclusion of your self-promotion material (on the sly)
that goes with every email notifications to our members
is NOT DONE with my knowledge.
Anyway, I am closing the subject. Please don't bother to reply.
When my trial period ends, it ends. For you, for me.

Please don't be complacent.
SocialGo doesn't have half of what Dolphin has. That's a diff topic.
What you have forgotten is that the question is not whether the price is that of a cup of coffee (for you) or a Cadillac. It's a matter of business ethics. All the more so, when the logo you impose on the users undermines the very existence of their sites. Even if you charge me only $0.01, what you don't make any sense. In fact describing my payments as the price of a cup of coffee is an insult and arrogance. And ... what I DO FORr you by paying that will amount to more than that.
I have been creating websites and using every new package as I go. I have the politness to put a link back to the provider even when I use free packages like Joomla or WordPress. It doesn't hurt my site, but your logo and the contents of the pafe it links are totally different.
With $240 an year, I can do better that get a logo removed from my site. With less than that money I can buy a cool hosting service with unlimted storage, bandwith and databases plus a lifetime license for using a social network package like dolphin.

I am a strater plan user. And I Have complaint.
I must say I am terribly affected by the SocialGo logo at the bottom of my site. First of all, the standard practice on the Net is that you are not forced to place anybody's ad or link of any sort of reference when you buy a service. But, let it pass, since your terms and conditions forewarn cutomers about it.
But now I find it's a threat to my site. I take trouble to contact people and make them join my site; they see and press the Socialgo logo at the bottom, reach your site, and start creating their own free netwroks. In other words, you are charging me for the prerogative of campaigning for you! I am digging my own grave.
And it doesn't end there. Every email notification my members get (after signing up or writing something on the Wall, etc) carry your self-promotion bit. You make it a point to let all members know that SocialGo is the creator of the service (after I have paid for it), and you inform them they can start their own netwroks with you --- all this at my expense, which makes me a sucker.
Now compare your service with Dolphin. They allow me to use their product free (with ads) or by paying for it (without any ad logo or anythng). And more importantly, I can purchase their software for just $100 with unlimited license.
I feel that your use of the logo on my site is unfair (though not illegal), and the inclusion of your self-promotion material to every notification originating from my site is blatantly unethical.
I like SocialGo, but with your logo menacingly present on my site, my money and efforts have gone down the drain. I have no plan to use SocialGo after my trial paid period is over. I see no future for Starter Plan users with Socialgo.

Dear Ryan, my problem is not about seeing or not seeing who are online. When a member press "chat" after seeing me online, no screen opens for me to respond; nor do i get any alert. At the other end, the member gets a chat box that goes on saying, it's waiting for me. In short, I never know when a member wants to chat with me when both are online.

Nice. I see that "call' is replaced by "Chat". Thank's for accepting my suggestion.
But I don't thing it's working. The other day I asked a friend to visit the site to test it by clicking on "Chat". She got a chat screen that's eternally waiting for me to answer. At my end, I didn't see any pop-up box or any kind of alert to indicate that I was invited for a chat. – daisy wheel, on March 29, 2009 10:11
