Damon Cali replied on July 17, 2009 15:04 to the question "need tradeoffs associated with selecting backup format" in BackupMy:
HTML will give you a nicely formatted human-readable web page. That's usually what you want. XML and JSON are files that are meant to be read by computers - you'd use these if you wanted to import your tweets into a program you are writing, for example. XML vs. JSON is a choice to be made by the programmer to suit his or her needs.

That's a tough question. Believe me, we would rather not have it. But until the big email platforms support OAuth or something similar, it's just a fact of life that we need to ask for passwords. What we can do is say that we absolutely respect your privacy, and we protect all passwords with industry standard encryption.

You will receive a direct message from BackupMyTweets that links to a URL where you can get your tweets. Click that link, sign up for a free account, and you'll be able to download your tweets. Additionally, your tweets will be backed up once a day going forward.
We're currently having quite a bit of load on our servers. Unfortunately, this means that we're not getting our direct messages out as quickly as we'd like. So be patient, and let us know if you don't get your DM in the next 24 hours.
Sorry for the inconvenience!

This would be useful to OtherInbox your crazy uncle. Suppose you have a custom OI domain. Your real address is damon@mydomain.com. You send your auto generated email to facebook@mydomain.com, etc. But it's a little rude to tell Crazy Uncle Joe (who forwards you all the anti-telemarketer tips) to send mail to crazyunclejoe@mydomain.com. So you could give him dcali@mydomain.com instead, which filters into mailboxes by sender. It's a way of prioritizing your human contacts.
Of course, you could make up lots of stealth OI mailboxes, but if you have a lot of annoying friends, you might run out.-

Email doesn't always load.Intermittently, after logging in, mailboxes and messages do not show up. I'm using Safari Version 3.1.2 (5525.20.1) for OSX. The browser status bar says something like "Loading "https://beta.otherinbox.com/box/", completed 26 of 59 items." and then nothing happens.
Refreshing once or twice usually fixes this.-

"Forward to my real Email" ButtonHow about a one-click button to click that forwards the message you're viewing to your real email?
