Detect potential duplicate uploaded transactions?Hi there!
I just had a very strange experience uploading transactions (in QIF format from Abbey). I noticed that a couple of transactions were apparently duplicated. Upon closer examination, I saw that each pair of duplicated transactions had very slightly different descriptions - both transactions involved foreign exchange, and one of each pair had an 'international' note on it. (Unfortunately I no longer have the qif files I downloaded - I don't know if you archive them anywhere).
I can only assume, therefore, that I downloaded the transactions from Abbey once, and uploaded them; and then a subsequent Abbey download included those transactions once again but with a subtly different description provided by Abbey. I guess further that FAC regarded them as different transactions, as their descriptions were different.
It would be handy if FAC could flag suspicious-looking duplicate transactions, perhaps those occuring on the same day for the same amount with the description almost th same (for some definition of almost!) I appreciate that some businesses may well have many almost identical transactions going on; perhaps the system could learn about that, like it does with categorising newly uploaded transactions?
Anyway - in this instance I was able to simply remove the duplicates, and the FAC view again ties up with my bank statement, so no action required on your part there.
Thanks,
Dan

Hm - I wonder if this is relevant.
Back in February, I bought a printer for £160.99. I put this in with a 3 year asset life, so there is a depreciation charge of £53.66.
In September, that printer broke, and was returned for a refund. When that refund went through, it appeared (ugh, I've just noticed - for £160.98!) and went under 604: Disposal of Capital Asset. Was this the right thing to do? If not, what should I do to correct this? (Or, is this completely unrelated?)

Balance sheet doesn't balance, Trial Balance OK.Hi there,
I've probably done something strange here. I'm seeing my Trial Balance balancing correctly, but the balance sheet is out by £160.89. Is this something I need to talk to my accountant about, or is FAC up to something strange?
I don't know if this is relevant, but my year end is at the end of this month (November). The site advises me to check my opening balances, but I started fresh with zero in everything (ie. all opening balances are 0).
Thanks!

Uploading explanation attachment beachballs Safari 4I have a feeling this is going to be one of those unreproducible problems!
I'm using Safari 4 on Snow Leopard. FreeAgent often causes Safari to hang (beachball) in one specific circumstance: when uploading an attachment to an explanation. I fill in the explanation form, and then press the 'Choose file' button to select a file to upload. I select a file (it's usually a PNG). The file name appears in the box, and then Safari beachballs with high CPU usage (50-80%).
If I remember correctly, this happened prior to the SL upgrade (from Leopard). It doesn't happen on Firefox. I've not tried Safari 4 on Windows. It also doesn't seem to happen anywhere else in FAC where you can upload a file - just on the explanation page.
Any idea what could cause this?
Thanks!-

Not sure if it's exactly the same thing, but it would be handy to be able to generate the time tracking reports with an output in days, rather than hours; I think the number of hours per day is already recorded on a per-project basis? Like the original poster, I tend to bill in days, not hours.
Appreciate this might be problematic if you're generating cross-project reports, and the reports have a different number of hours per day.-

OK, solved it. My Caches directory in ~/Library had managed to get owned by root (heaven only knows how). I fixed this by logging in as an administrative user, and issuing:
chown -R dan:staff /Users/dan/Library/Caches
This has, thankfully, fixed a bunch of other crashing problems I've been having with other apps!

Spelling errorHi! Just noticed that 'kilometres' is misspelt as 'killometers' on the site, when searching for developers near a location.

Search for Bristol, UK not finding developerHi,
I've added my company (Fez Consulting Ltd.) as a Django developer based in Bristol, UK. However, geographic searches for Bristol don't include the Fez entry (although a number of entries from developers based around Bristol are brought back).
Any idea what's up?
Thanks,

Explanations for newly uploaded transactions in a VAT locked periodHi,
I (stupidly) forgot to upload transactions for my business reserve account for a period that is now VAT locked (I'm on the flat rate scheme). I uploaded them today, and they appear as unexplained transactions. However, I can't actually select the correct explanation since the period is locked.
The amounts and transactions are just a few pennies of interest, but I don't have the option to treat them as such.
What's the best way of addressing this?
Thanks,
Dan

Developer API test accountI'm considering developing an application that uses the FreeAgent API. However, I'm not looking forward to using my real company data to test with! Is there a way of setting up a 'sandbox' company that I can use to test with?
