dandv reported a problem in Twitter on November 02, 2009 08:07:
Search and #replies are brokenSearch is utterly broken: http://search.twitter.com/search?q=dandv returns only one tweet. My #replies / @dandv does not mention http://twitter.com/Dianatology/status...
dandv replied on July 07, 2009 01:33 to the discussion "How would you prefer to report Twitter spam?" in Twitter:
1. "Report spammer" in the Action drop-down
2. Please fix the API to allow DMs sent to @spam.
3. Please include a link to report a spammer directly in the e-mail that users receive when they are notified of a new follower. (details).
dandv reported a problem in Twitter on July 07, 2009 01:28:
API direct messages to @spam are rejectedUsing the API, I can successfully direct message people who follow me. @spam follows me. I can direct message spam from the Web UI. But I cannot DM @spam.
Here's the command:
curl -u dandv:<password_here> -d "text=@MerleAyers356 is spamming. How about blocking users with only 1 update and hundreds of followers?&screen_name=spam" http://twitter.com/direct_messages/ne...
This is the reply:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<hash>
<request>/direct_messages/new.xml</request>
<error>You cannot send messages to users who are not following you.</error>
</hash>
Please fix this, as it would make reporting spammers way easier.</password_here>
dandv replied on July 07, 2009 01:21 to the idea "spam Spam-Report + Hide Spammer" in Twitter:
Painfully obvious. Youtube has a "Report spam" link for every message. Twitter should also include that in the e-mail it sends to the user when someone new is following them.
Most spammers have obvious spammer names (e.g. MerleAyers356, joecitizen81994), only 1 update, and hundreds of followers, so it's obvious right from the e-mail that I want to ban and report them.-

dandv marked one of Orin Zebest's replies in Twitter as useful. Orin Zebest replied to the question "Line Breaks in Twitter???".
dandv replied on June 27, 2009 08:03 to the question "If the max is 140 characters, why can't Twitter show the whole line? Why cut off the last few characters with an ellipsis?" in Twitter:
Twitter, please just STOP truncating messages that fit in 140 characters, period.
Here's an example of 108-character tweet:
http://twitter.com/catalystmvc/status...
The end of the URL is replaced with an ellipsis, although there are 32 characters left. This makes copy-and-paste of the real Twitter status IMPOSSIBLE.
Gratuitous truncation is silly. Twitter is not silly. Please fix this dissonance.
A comment on the question "If the max is 140 characters, why can't Twitter show the whole line? Why cut off the last few characters with an ellipsis?" in Twitter:
What? The comment above is complete nonsense. The at sign (@) is one character (ASCII code 64). Same for the double quote (ASCII code 34). – dandv, on June 27, 2009 08:01
dandv replied on June 17, 2009 06:52 to the question "Why are some links redirected through tinyurl.com? Any way to disable that?" in Twitter:
Please leave URLs alone if they fit in the 140 characters of the tweet. This way, users will not be forced to do things like upside-down URLs (http://twitter.com/burke_eric/statuse...)
dandv replied on June 17, 2009 06:50 to the question "Why the mandatory tinyurls?" in Twitter:
Please leave URLs alone if the entire tweet fits in 140 characters. An excellent case for this is made at http://stuffthathappens.com/blog/2008...-
